While the moment-to-moment gameplay of Meet Your Maker is fairly straightforward, its materials and progression systems can be a bit difficult to understand upon first glance. Indeed, the myriad of progress bars and resource trackers that appear in the game may leave players feeling overwhelmed and quite confused. This guide is here to attempt to alleviate that confusion by providing details on progression, materials, and how those two aspects of Meet Your Maker overlap.

Meet Your Maker Progression

Evolving the Chimera

At the center of Meet Your Maker's primary progression system is the Chimera, the entity that players first encounter immediately upon starting the game. In essence, the central goal of the title is to continually increase the Chimera's level, an action that grants various rewards, and that is done by increasing the levels of the five Advisors. More specifically, each time that an Advisor goes up a level, fans of base building games can "process" them at the Chimera's terminal in order to gain one bar toward its next level.

Advisor Levels

With respect to how Meet Your Maker players should go about increasing the levels of their Advisors, GenMat is the key. Essentially, GenMat functions as Advisor XP, and fans can earn it by successfully raiding Outposts, maintaining their own active Outposts, and killing raiders in the levels that they have made.

While the path to earning GenMat is simple enough, it is complicated by the fact that GenMat goes toward leveling up a specific Advisor rather than all of them simultaneously. For example, some raids and Burial Sites grant GenMat that is put toward the Weapons Advisor, while others grant GenMat that is put toward the Suits Advisor. Players can see what type of GenMat is awarded by looking at the Rewards section when selecting a raid or below the image when claiming a new Burial Site in Meet Your Maker.

To note, evolving the Chimera is not the only reason to level up Advisors, as the durations of the Boosts that they grant increase as the characters go up in level. Players are thus advised to peruse the Boosts that are available, by accessing each Advisor's Boost tab, and then focus on raids and Burial Sites that award GenMat that will extend the effects that are most appealing.

Tribute Level

One final thing to mention about GenMat is that it also goes toward increasing a player's Tribute Level, which appears at the top of the screen. As indicated next to the bar, going up a Tribute Level awards a designated number of Cells, an important material that is discussed in further detail below.

Custodian Level

With the GenMat-based progression systems established, it is worth taking a moment to briefly touch on two additional systems. The first is Custodian Level, which appears in the top-right corner of the screen and can be increased by earning standard XP. This type of XP is awarded for completing raids, destroying traps, landing headshots, and much more, and fans of post-apocalyptic video games will receive rewards every time they go up a Custodian Level.

Rank

The other progression system that is not tied to GenMat is Rank, which is unlocked upon reaching Custodian Level 5 and can be increased both by raiding and building in Meet Your Maker. There are currently four ranks (Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Master) through which players can climb, and they will receive rewards contingent upon their rank when a Campaign comes to an end.

Meet Your Maker Materials

There are three primary materials in Meet Your Maker, and here are details on how they are obtained and what players can do with them:

Cells (Red)

Cells are a universal material that is earned by leveling up the Chimera and going up in Tribute Levels. Cells are used to unlock new suits, traps, guards, hardware, and weapons. They are also used to upgrade weapons and suits, unlock guard augments and trap mods, and activate the vast majority of Boosts. While there is no Boost that directly increases Cell rewards, fans of co-op games can raise the rate of acquisition by activating the Hardware Advisor's GenMat Boost.

Parts (Blue)

Parts are a raid-focused material that players can earn by leveling up the Chimera; increasing Custodian Level; destroying traps, guards, and Forsaken Tombs during raids; and killing players in the Outposts that they make. Parts are used to unlock new suits, hardware, and weapons. They are also used to upgrade suits and weapons in Meet Your Maker, craft hardware, and activate some Boosts. The Weapon Advisor's Boost temporarily increases the drop rate of Parts.

Synthite (Yellow)

Synthite is a building-focused material that players can earn by leveling up the Chimera; increasing Custodian Level; destroying traps, guards, and Forsaken Tombs during raids; and killing players in the Outposts that they make. Synthite is used to unlock new guards, traps, and Burial Sites. Fans of first-person shooters can also use it to unlock guard augments and trap mods as well as activate some Boosts. The Trap Advisor's Boost temporarily increases the drop rate of Synthite.
