New Mecha Break Trailer Premieres at Xbox Game Showcase

Seven months later, Chinese developer Amazing Seasun treated the game to a new trailer, which premiered at the latest Xbox Games Showcase. The June 9 promo saw the company reveal that Mecha Break is targeting a 2025 release. Aside from the Xbox Series X/S, the multiplayer mech game will also launch on PC and the PlayStation 5. Seeing how Amazing Seasun did not commit to a specific release date, its stated 2025 launch window indicates that Mecha Break is more likely to release in the second half of the following year rather than the first.

Mecha Break Xbox Beta Coming in August 2024

The game's latest trailer also serves as an announcement of its next beta, which is set to take place in August 2024. The test will be limited to the Xbox Series X/S, thus marking the first occasion on which the owners of Microsoft's current-generation consoles will be able to give Mecha Break a try. This will be the game's third test in total, following the alpha and PC-only beta that took place in December 2023 and April 2024, respectively. Like those two, the upcoming beta will be invite-only, with sign-ups being expected to go live in the coming weeks. The previous tests were four days long, with both of them running from Friday through Monday. That will presumably be the case this time around, as well.

Xbox Series X/S owners wanting to partake in the upcoming beta should keep an eye on the official Mecha Break website for instructions on how to do so. Amazing Seasun says that the player feedback stemming from the previous two tests has already influenced the game's design and balancing, framing the upcoming beta as an opportunity for Xbox users to have their own say in Mecha Break's development. Since the game is still around a year away from hitting the market, it's plausible the August beta won't be its final test. On the contrary, at least one open beta designed to stress-test the game's multiplayer server infrastructure will almost certainly happen prior to its global release.

Mecha Break will likely find it impossible to avoid comparisons with FromSoftware's critically acclaimed Armor Core series. But its multiplayer-only gameplay formula, if properly executed, could certainly help it stand out from the competition and find a long-term audience that every live-service game craves.
