Valentine's Day saw the release of something you may not expect in Japan - a new set of Pokemon-themed Happy Meals. What better place to take your loved one on a date? Not only one set of new Pokémon goods was released at McDonald's, but actually two, with customers being given a choice between which one they want more. The two sets are the Pokémon Frienda Happy Meal, themed after the arcade game Pokémon Frienda, and the Poké Peace set.

Casey Baseel of SoraNews24 went out to get the Poké Peace Happy Meal set when it was released on Friday, and shared on the news site exactly what was inside. Both of these Happy Meal sets are brand new to McDonald's in Japan this week, though they are far from the first Pokémon Happy Meals that the fast food giant has had. No matter how many times Pokémon goods are released, though, fans are always excited about getting new and exclusive goods.

What is Poké Peace?

Imagining Life with a Pokémon

Poké Peace may be a new line for McDonad's, but it is not a new concept in the expansive Pokémon franchise. Poké Peace was originally designed for babies and toddlers, with cute, chibi artwork meant to mimic a more baby-friendly style. The point of Poké Peace is to imagine what life would be like with Pokémon living peacefully in your home, rather than focusing on battling, leveling up, and evolving.

However, Poké Peace gained a lot of popularity beyond just babies and toddlers. Now, the Poké Peace art and character designs appeal to Pokémon fans of all ages. That is likely why it is the new Happy Meal line, capitalizing on its increased popularity. Some of the most popular and cutest Pokémon have been featured in the Poké Peace designs, including Scorbunny, Piplup, Espurr, Rowlett, Pichu, and, of course, Pikachu. All the designs are meant to be cozy, happy, and warm, imagining an idyllic life with Pokémon.

What's Inside the Latest Happy Meal

If you order the Poké Peace version of the new McDonald's Happy Meal, you will get one of six exclusive sticker sets based on the Poké Peace designs. Each sticker set includes a random background and set of character stickers to place in it. All the backgrounds are cozy scenes inside a home. The different room possibilities are a living room, a bathroom, a child's playroom, a relaxing sun room complete with a hammock, and a dressing room with a vanity table.

Each different room also comes with a different set of Pokémon stickers, with some thought put into which Pokémon would enjoy being in each room. For example, the bathroom set comes with Piplup, a water-type Pokémon, and the living room has best friends Pikachu and Pichu hanging out together. The stickers can be placed anywhere in the room, and can also be peeled off and moved around a few times in case you change your mind.

Happy Meals traditionally have toys in them, but the Poké Peace sets offer something unique for people that just want something relaxing to do. Putting cute, fat Pokémon characters into a cozy house scene is definitely therapeutic, especially as the stickers can be repositioned, so there is less pressure on choosing the perfect place to put them. Both the Poké Peace Happy Meal and Pokémon Frienda Happy Meals will be available until the end of February, while supplies last.
