Marvel's Spider-Man 2 showcased the next chapter of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales' lives. The two web-slinging heroes of New York City went through some harrowing experiences together, as Venom and Kraven the Hunter created some serious problems in the city. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 had plenty of highlights, but when it came to Peter's suits, many were left disappointed.
One of the biggest complaints regarding Peter Parker's suits seemed to be the emphasis on MCU options. There are a total of eight movie-based suits available for Peter, and many felt it was overkill, especially when Miles Morales had more original options. Whenever Marvel's Spider-Man 3 gets announced, Insomniac will have a difficult decision to make when it comes to how Peter's suits are handled.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2's Cut Content Explained
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 had a variety of content that was either cut or unused before it finally launched, some of which would have changed the game.
Marvel's Spider-Man 3 May Need to Take a More Balanced Approach to its MCU Suits
By the Time Spider-Man 3 Arrives, There Will Be Even More MCU Options
- Avengers: Doomsday
- Spider-Man: Brand New Day
- Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
Right now, Tom Holland is reportedly not going to be in Avengers: Doomsday as Spider-Man, but this could also be a red herring to pave the way for a surprise appearance. According to recent reports, Spider-Man potentially not being in Avengers: Doomsday could be due to scheduling conflicts with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth mainline entry in his standalone series. On top of that, the animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man launched this year, which could also inspire its own suit.
It Might Be Hard For Insomniac to Make Both Camps of the Fan Base Happy
On the one hand, Insomniac could pull back on MCU suits, but on the other hand, that would also upset the players who love getting to play the game in these movie tie-in outfits. No matter what Insomniac does, it risks upsetting a portion of the players. Suit options in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 can be incredibly fun, but it's also understandable why players would be frustrated with so many slots in Peter's inventory being dedicated to movie suits instead of original or comic-based offerings. Thankfully, there might be a way for both camps to get what they want.
There isn't much known about Marvel's Spider-Man 3 yet, but the finale of the last game teased the arrival of Cindy Moon as Silk.
Marvel's Spider-Man 3 Can Still Keep MCU Suits, But With a Small Tweak
If Insomniac still insists on including every possible movie suit, making them variants instead of their own separate options may be the best path forward. MCU lovers still get to enjoy the movie references, while those who prefer the original designs and comic accurate suits can have more free spaces to unlock. There's no telling what's in store for Marvel's Spider-Man 3, but this approach to suits could open the door for better options for Peter. Still, it would take a lot of work on Insomniac's part, as they would essentially be making more suits since the movie suits are so distinct that basic recolors are not an option.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently eyeing a July 2026 release date. Avengers: Doomsday will launch two months before, on May 1, 2026.
The Future of Insomniac is Filled With Superheroes
- Marvel's Wolverine is currently in development.
- There's no word on when Marvel's Spider-Man 3 plans to launch.
Marvel's Wolverine is currently next in line for Insomniac, and while the developer has yet to reveal a release target, speculation has been suggesting 2026. After that, Marvel's Spider-Man 3 is likely to be on the horizon.
At this pace, it wouldn't be surprising if Marvel's Spider-Man 3 was a PS6 launch title. Of course, only time will tell, but until then, Insomniac may have to reconsider how it includes MCU suits.
