A Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 player has showcased a rather unique bug in the game that allows players to run across the sky. Spider-Man 2 was one of this year's most anticipated games, and since its release in October, the title has taken the world by storm. It landed on multiple “Game of the Year” lists, was one of the most nominated titles at the Game Awards, and even earned a Metacritic score of 91, qualifying it as one of Insomniac’s highest-rated games together with Spyro: Year of the Dragon and Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal.
As the game is one of this year’s titles with a shorter play time, and with Spider-Man 2's new game plus delayed until next year, fans have been thoroughly searching for things to immerse themselves with in the fictional version of New York. As such, some players have been discovering several glitches, with some ranging from one that has Miles grinding on a rail as if he is in a Tony Hawk game to the viral bug that turned Miles into a white cube, with the character even retaining his voice lines and movesets. For Insomniac’s part, the developers have been quick to issue updates for any errant glitches in order to make player’s time in the game a much smoother experience.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Bug Provides a Disturbing Traversal Method
A Marvel's Spider-Man 2 player discovers a weird bug that allows the main character to traverse the world in a pretty disturbing way.
But with the nature of updates, as one bug is patched, it can open up the game for other glitches to occur. This was the case for a Reddit user going by the handle Reyham_furus, who posted a video in the Spider-Man PS4 subreddit showcasing Peter Parker wearing one of his many suits, running miles above New York and into the sky as if he is going up a skyscraper. As Peter continues running in the air with a quest marker below him, the video begins to lag, with the sound effects cutting out, indicating that players were never meant to get so high in the skybox.
This particular bug is similar to another floating glitch that can be triggered by returning to the scene of one of Marvel's Spider-Man 2’s earlier sidequests involving The Flame and jumping on a chair located there. Then, without moving, players should see that their character will start to rise in the air with the chair stuck to Spider-Man's leg. Where Reyham_furus’ glitch differs is that the Spider-Man in his video is clearly running and also does not have a chair below them, indicating that it is another bug that involves moving the character into the air.
Unless players can recreate this glitch or it becomes game-breaking, it seems that it will stay in for a while, as Insomniac is recovering from a data breach. However, by the time the next big update for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 that aims to bring new game plus and allow players to change the time of day goes live, this floating glitch may become history.
