As part of that recently held panel, the developers confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will feature Aunt May's house. This classic location from the series wasn't included as mere fan service but will actually factor into the game's overarching plot. More specifically, many of Peter Parker's early-game struggles will revolve around Aunt May's house, not least because the protagonist will struggle to handle its mortgage payments. And while MJ will want to help him carry that burden, Parker's love interest from Marvel's Spider-Man will soon have to focus on her own problems, as the return of J. Jonah Jameson to The Daily Bugle will put her job on the line, Insomniac has revealed.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Venom Fate

This bit of plot info suggests that some early portions of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will take place in Forest Hills, Queens, as that's the canon location of Aunt May's house in every iteration of Marvel's web-slinging superhero. The fact that Insomniac's third Spider-Man game will feature Queens and several other New York boroughs was already confirmed at the May 24 PlayStation Showcase. The move itself was widely praised as correcting one of the biggest issues with the past two Marvel's Spider-Man games, which were mostly constrained to Manhattan.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will see Peter Parker use the symbiote suit, which will grant him access to new powers while taking a toll on his state of mind, thus doubling as a plot device. The late May gameplay reveal also confirmed that the game will feature a character swapping mechanic in the vein of Grand Theft Auto 5, as players will usually be able to choose between playing as Peter Parker and Miles Morales.

And while Kraven the Hunter is seemingly being positioned as the game's main antagonist, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will also see the return of some other villains. Chief among them is Mister Negative, who already played a prominent role in Insomniac's first two Spider-Man games.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 launches October 20 for PlayStation 5.
