When Venom joins the battle in Marvel's Midnight Suns, he doesn't need anybody to hold his hand. Right off the bat, Venom is loaded with cards that are capable of killing either bosses or waves of enemies in one play. It's hard to believe that the character can get even better with some tinkering.
This is only an opinion based on experience in Marvel's Midnight Suns. The game can be beaten on the hardest difficulties with many builds for Venom, this just represents one proven way to do it. Players who have other preferences and experience successful results should feel validated with their decisions.

Venom attacks and heroics gain Quick and "On KO, draw Venom attack or heroic card" until end of turn. Gain 1 Ravenous. Exhaust. |
Venom's lifesteal might make him suited to tank but he doesn't have the taunts necessary to get enemy attention. He does have a few crowd control capabilities which can turn him into a battlefield support, yet this build is outshined by Doctor Strange's ideal deck among others. This leads to an all-too-obvious conclusion; Venom should be built as a damage dealer.
The deck is extremely Heroism positive, generating much more than it uses. It's also friendly to the Ravenous charges that increase Venom's damage. After leveling his friendship up, Venom's first attack or heroic card each round does not consume a Ravenous charge. This makes big difference over the course of a long campaign.
Venom is the first hero to get a skill card as a legendary. After acquiring Assimilation+, Venom can continue to play and draw attacks so long as his moves kill at least one opponent with no penalty to the round's card limit. Give him a mix of single target and multiple target cards to ensure this chain lasts until everything on the map is cleared out.
For even more power in combat, modding these cards requires a bit of luck for an ideal advantage, but any boost at all can't hurt.
Marvel's Midnight Suns is available now for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
