While everyone has their personal favorite, Tom Holland has done a tremendous job in the role and has proven to be a hit with fans. Spider-Man Will Once Again Have Another Hero Alongside Him
From the moment Spider-Man was introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans have been excited about what he could bring to the table, and the character has more than delivered. Peter Parker's cheeky attitude and youthful energy have aided every project he's been involved in, but he has been kept in a supporting role as a youngster who is upcoming throughout all of it. Even within his own movies, he has been positioned in that way, and at this point, it's starting to become a negative trend that audiences are picking up. At the same time, it made sense to have Tony Stark be his mentor at the start because it created a fun bond that could be developed; after that end, Marvel didn't need to keep having him be someone other characters wouldn't trust fully. However, it also feels like Marvel's higher-ups don't trust the character, so they keep pairing him up with others.
Whether it's Iron Man, Nick Fury, Doctor Strange, or different versions of Spider-Man, other heroes are always added to the Spider-Man movies, and that's not allowing Holland's character to shine in the manner that it should. That trend is continuing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, as Hulk is now rumored to be getting put into the movie. That means that Spider-Man will once again share the screen with another character and won't be able to lead his own franchise.

Adding a character like Hulk into Spider-Man: Brand New Day isn't a bad decision by any stretch of the imagination. He's a popular character, and given that Marvel is seemingly unwilling to commit to another Hulk standalone movie, he does have to be slotted into other films in a bid to keep him relevant. The mixture of Hulk and Bruce Banner will give Marvel many opportunities for storytelling that can aid the movie; therefore, the decision to add a character like that could attract a wider audience while also making the plot even more engaging. After four movies, that's an important thing to do in a bid to keep the franchise fresh.
However, Hulk's arrival will come at Spider-Man's expense. While it's unknown whether Hulk will be involved in the entire film or just a portion of it, he will always take away the spotlight from Spider-Man. He will appear in the trailer and the build-up, leading to everyone talking about him rather than Peter Parker. While it's positive to have another hero that people are invested in, it shouldn't end up overtaking the focus of Spider-Man, as he's who the entire story should be built around.

Spider-Man is a character that Marvel could easily build the entire franchise around in the same manner they did for Iron Man. He could develop into a leadership role because he's a character who audiences will always come out and see when a movie drops. However, the lack of belief that Marvel Studios seems to have in the character is prohibiting that from happening. Fans thought he would naturally replace Iron Man due to their relationship. Still, the fact that he's being paired with another hero, possibly in another mentorship role, is going to take him backward. Marvel needs to start believing in Spider-Man as a character at some point and allow him to carry his own stories because that's the only way that fans will take him seriously in the long run.
Spider-Man needs to be pushed as the focal point of his own movies to ensure that the audience are talking about him and not anyone else when the film finishes. This also has a knock-on effect on Spider-Man's appearances in future Marvel films. If he always has another hero with him, it will seem like he should just be part of the ensemble in those bigger movies, being unable to push on to be a leader. That's why this negative trend needs to stop after Spider-Man: Brand New Day, to ensure that the character is no longer handcuffed.
