It's been a wild ride for Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix after revealing Marvel's Avengers at E3 2019. The game was initially criticised byt he community for the game's look, though the developer has managed to gain much of that goodwill back recently have two well received War Table streams. However, much of that positivity has come crashing down around the game over the past 24 hours due to a newly announced exclusivity deal with Sony. Unfortunately for players not on a PlayStation console, things continue to get worse.

On the other hand, cosmetics allow players to customize their experiences through character outfits, gear, skills, takedown moves, nameplates, emotes, and more. Better yet, these cosmetic items have their own rarity tiers ranging from the basic Uncommon to the highly sought after Legendary. Each post-launch character, such as the just announced Hawkeye, will come with their own narratives, cosmetics, and gear. While cosmetics and community challenges are available for all platforms, PlayStation users get another bump over the competition.

Towards the end of the post, Wong reveals that the team is working again with the PlayStation team to provide exclusive access to specific Community Challenges and rewards that can be earned. In addition, PlayStation owners also get 30 day exclusive access to Legendary Outfits, Emotes, Takedowns, and Nameplates for all characters, including ones that arrive after the game is out. Players with a PlayStation Plus subscription earn even more, getting a free bundle containing rare outfits, nameplates, and 100 credits each time a new hero is added to the game.

This latest news isn't likely going to sit well with those already upset by the confirmation that the PS4 and PS5 versions of Marvel's Avengers will be the only place for players to play as Spider-Man. Naturally, this has set off a wave of backlash due to what many perceive to be content getting pulled from the other platforms, now making them inferior versions of a third party title. Some continue to hold out hope that these are simply timed exclusives, similar to the previous deal between Sony and Bungie for Destiny 2 content or the one currently in place with Activision for Call of Duty.

Marvel's Avengers  is in development now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will be released at a later date.
