The Symbiote Spider-Man Deck’s Synergies
- Symbiote, Black Panther, into Arnim Zola is the primary combo. You play Symbiote, merge it with Black Panther, and hit it with Arnim to get two 56-Power cards.
- Shuri and Taskmaster are backup plans. You can use them to copy Symbiote Spider-Man’s Power or double it. (White Tiger is also a plan-B card for when you can’t play Black Panther.)
- Forge and Ironheart are buff options. If you hit Black Panther with them before the merge, your Symbiote will be huge.
- Odin and Wong exploit Symbiote Spider-Man’s Power. After the Symbiote and Panther merge, you will double the Power if you drop Odin or Wong.
If you play Odin into Arnim Zola’s lane after duplicating the 56-Power Symbiote, you will technically get two 112-Power cards.
How to Play Symbiote Spider-Man
Symbiote Spider-Man is Marvel Snap’s first Activate card. You must manually trigger his effect by right-clicking or long-pressing it once it's on the board. Also, you must ensure Symbiote has been on the board for at least one turn before unleashing his ability.
Keep these notes in mind when playing Symbiote Spider-Man:
- Symbiote Spider-Man’s effect follows the usual reveal pattern. If you Activate it after playing, say, Black Panther, it will wait for that card’s effect to go off before merging with it.
- Symbiote Spider-Man might target random cards. If two cards have the exact Cost, it will merge into one of them randomly.
- You can double Symbiote Spider-Man’s effect. But that is only possible if he absorbs an On Reveal or Ongoing card’s ability. (The base Activate ability is not repeatable.)
You can deactivate Symbiote Spider-Man’s effect by undoing the turn’s action or long-pressing its card again before the turn ends.
How to Counter Symbiote Spider-Man
As of the Amazing Spider-Season, Marvel Snap doesn't have a direct counter for Activate cards. However, the current metagame revolves around the Symbiote-Black Panther combo, which effectively turns Symbiote Spider-Man into an On Reveal card. Like all On Reveal cards, he can be countered using Cosmo.
Shang-Chi is also an effective tech card against Symbiote Spider-Man, as this Activate card will likely exceed ten Power. For additional counterplay options, consider playing Enchantress to handle Ongoing Symbiotes and Shadow King to revert Symbiote’s buffs.
Is Symbiote Spider-Man Worth It?
Symbiote Spider-Man is one of the exciting releases of Marvel Snap that’s worth checking out. He comes with a new ability type, Activate, which adds a new strategic layer to the gameplay. Moreover, he has incredible synergy with most Archetypes, making him an easy fit for most decks.
