Pixel variants in Marvel Snap present alternative card designs featuring pixel art style. The game has rolled out more than 200 versions of these variants for cards, and they are priced at 700 Gold each. Players can acquire pixel variants through the in-game Shop or unlock them as CL progression rewards.

Despite this extensive offering, the audience appreciating this art style has remained relatively limited. This tier list aims to help players discern which Pixel variants are genuinely worth the price and which ones fall short of expectations.

These artworks are considered S-tier because of their clean look and comical aspects. However, Wave, Thor, Thanos, Venom, Odin, Deadpool, and Debrii are also lovely.

The charm of pixel art lies in its nostalgic theme and the whimsical interpretation it brings to a card’s design. Regrettably, only a handful of Marvel Snap variants manage to meet this standard. Unfortunately for players, the majority of Pixel variants appear as cheap and aesthetically displeasing renditions of the original cards. This notable disparity has been a critical factor contributing to their lackluster sales in the game.

The Worst Pixel Variants in Marvel Snap

The most undesirable Pixel variants are Bast, Modok, Sabretooth, Vulture, Arnim Zola, and Lady Deathstrike. These cards have controversial designs that downgrade the characters’ prestige. Bast has received the most hate among these unpopular artworks, being called the worst variant in Marvel Snap’s history.

Hellcow, however, stands out as a prime example of a poor design working well. The card’s whimsical twist on the original’s somber artwork adds a likable and iconic element, which most Pixel variants lack.

Pixel Art Controversy Explained

Since Pixel variants are the largest artwork pool in Marvel Snap, they were the most common reward on the Collection Level ladder. This particularly bothered players, as they did not appreciate most of the designs.

Later, in August 2023, Marvel Snap developers announced a change to the rewarding system that would balance Pixel variants. They presented the Prestige Level, which, paired with the Albums feature, would prevent excessive Pixel art draws — or at least help transform them into better prizes.
