Mobile games, especially those with free-to-play mechanics, continue to be quite popular for those on the go, and while Marvel certainly has a few available options like Marvel Strike Force, the company has now gotten into the card battling genre. Announced earlier in 2022, Marvel Snap is a free-to-play, 1v1 card battling title that players of Hearthstone or Magic the Gathering will likely feel at home in. Marvel Snap comes from a relatively new studio known as Second Dinner, though it is made up of industry veterans such as Ben Brode who previously served as game director on Blizzard's Hearthstone title.
With over 150 cards to collect, as well as unique holiday events that offer limited time rewards, Marvel Snap has been positioned as a fast-paced collectible card game. Players will utilize 12 cards, each with their own power level and ability, to claim victory over 2 of 3 lanes on maps set in Wakanda, Hala, and the Hellfire Club. Naturally, as a free-to-play title, the game is heavily monetized, so Marvel Snap players will need a constant supply of Credits and Gold.
Customization is also a big part of the experience, not just for creating unique Marvel Snap decks, but also for displaying the player's avatar. Unlocked rewards give players more options to pick from outside of the default ones, though trying to change them within Marvel Snap isn't as easy as it seems.
How to Change Player Avatars
While in many games, players can access their avatar simply by clicking on it or a particular setting, Marvel Snap curiously doesn't feature any of those options right at the start. Without a straightforward way to customize this piece of the player's personality, it has left many frustrated.
In order to change the avatar picture, players will want to head to the Marvel Snap Battle Pass, which can be accessed via a button at the bottom of the screen. In here, players can find all of the items they've unlocked so far, including new Marvel Snap cards and other rewards. Thankfully, this screen also has a redeem all button, so players don't need to individually click through everything in here. In here also features a set of eight avatars that can be redeemed as well.
Once unlocked, players now have the option to select their avatar image from the main menu by clicking the icon, which was previously not working. Once the eight pack of avatars is earned and players redeem them from the Battle Pass screen, their player avatar then becomes something that can be swapped out. Until that is done, the game won't allow it to be changed.
Marvel Snap is available on Android, iOS, and PC.
