Havok is the latest addition to Marvel Snap’s roster—a passive card that strengthens without requiring specific actions. He was introduced as part of December’s lineup alongside cards like Serene and Blob, all of which garnered equal controversy. However, this guide centers explicitly on Havok’s value to help you determine whether acquiring Havok is worth the price tag.

In case you’re curious, Havok is a Series Four card that costs 3,000 Tokens in the Token Shop. But you can get him through Spotlight Caches as well.

Havok Card Overview

havok card in marvel snap.

Havok is a two-Cost drop with no initial Power. Gameplay-wise, he is comparable to Sunspot or Nebula, who start with minimal Power but gain strength on the board. Havok introduces a unique mechanic, though, with his negative Energy impact. Upon playing him, you lose -1 Energy per turn, necessitating a low-Cost deck.

Pros

  • Passive gain. Havok can grow into a 20+ card just by sitting on the board.
  • Surprise late-game attack. Drop him on turn five, and he still becomes an eight-Power.
  • Good synergy with bounce and junk decks. Havok goes well with Annihilus and Beast, creating reliable bounce/junk collaborations.

Cons

  • Restrictive gameplay. You must play for Havok; he affects your Energy and thereby dictates the course of the game.
  • Limited synergies. You can’t expect him to perform well in many different archetypes.

How Havok Works

havok ability in marvel snap.

Havok is a passive gainer. From the very moment you place him on the board, he gets +4 Power in exchange for 1 Max Energy. For example, if you drop him on turn two, he becomes a four-Power card the next turn, but you start turn three with only two Energy points.

Here are some notes about Havok’s mechanics:

  • Shadow King can remove Havok’s buff. But if the game continues after Shadow King’s attack, Havok will start regaining Power.
  • A switched Havok freezes the enemy’s Energy. For example, if you send Havok over on turn three, the opponent will have three Energy for the rest of the game.
  • Havok gets one last buff at the end of the game. Therefore, even if the game concludes on turn six or seven, Havok's power still increases by four before the match wraps up.

Best Synergies for Havok

Passive gainers like Nebula and Werewolf By Night are excellent combos for Havok. However, he can also form strong alliances with Beast, Bast, Falcon, Annihilus, and Ravonna Renslayer in bounce and junk archetypes.

Who Should Get Havok in Marvel Snap

Getting Havok is not worthwhile for the average player. He’s a niche card with minimal consistent synergies that limit deck-building opportunities. Only players aiming to master specific archetypes (bounce and junk) or those seeking a playful play style will benefit from investing in Havok.
