Second Dinner's Marvel-themed collectible card game has been receiving seasonal content on a monthly basis ever since its late 2022 debut. Its latest completed season that added Young Avengers to Marvel Snap concluded on September 3, at 12pm PT / 3pm ET.

Marvel Snap's The Amazing Spider-Man Season Introduces Activate Ability

As per usual, the end of that Marvel Snap season also marked the start of another one. This latest content drop, based on The Amazing Spider-Man series, is particularly historic because it marks the debut of the game's first-ever new ability, Activate. Cards with this keyword allow players to trigger their effects at will, which substantially adds to their versatility. Three of the five new character cards that are set to launch as part of The Amazing Spider-Man season will have the Activate ability.

The first of these is Symbiote Spider-Man, a 4-Cost, 6-Power card that can be merged with the player's lowest-Cost card in order to copy its flavor text at will. As such, this newest Marvel Snap Spider-Man variant offers immense utility value, as it can be used during midgame to absorb cards that are no longer particularly useful on their own, or combine with late game cards into de facto win conditions that are extremely difficult to answer.

The second such card is set to launch on September 17, when Arana will debut in Marvel Snap. This 1-Cost character can act as both a strong opener and a cheap buff, as its Activate ability increases the Power of the next card put into play by two and shifts it to the right. The collectible card game's third-ever Activate card is Scarlet Spider, which is scheduled to arrive near the end of the season, on September 24. This particular addition looks particularly powerful on paper, as it's a 4-Cost, 5-Power card that can copy itself to another location at will.

The start of the Amazing Spider-Man season also coincides with the arrival of Silver Sable, a 1-Cost card that steals 2 Power from the top card of the opponent's deck on reveal, which is a fairly powerful effect relative to its minimal Energy requirement. In between Silver Sable and Arana, Marvel Snap is set to add Madame Web, a 2-Cost character with an Ongoing effect that allows players to move one of their cards away from the same location every turn.
