Marvel Rivals players are having mixed reactions to the recent release of the Weapon X skin for the popular Duelist Wolverine. As of June 6, NetEase Games launched a fresh game mode in Marvel Rivals called Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol. The new mode gives players the opportunity to choose a full team of heroes and face off against various foes in tactical grid-based scenarios.

Marvel Rivals Reveals Ultron Game Mode

Marvel Rivals announces that players will soon be able to play the Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol game mode in NetEase Games' popular hero shooter.

In a recent post on Reddit, Impossible-Coach-273 expressed confusion about heated reactions to the Weapon X skin for Wolverine in Marvel Rivals. They acknowledged that the costume contains some differences from the original design presented in the comics, but that they were confused as to why it was an issue. The fresh costume made its debut on June 5 for 1,600 Units and, while a lot of fans have expressed enthusiasm about the hero's appearance, some gamers are disappointed with the way NetEase Games designed the outfit.

Some Marvel Rivals Players Want a Comic-Accurate Weapon X Skin

A couple of people in the comments posted pictures of the original Weapon X artwork in the comics, which show Wolverine wearing small shorts or quite possibly nothing at all. While some fans said this would be impractical for Wolverine in Marvel Rivals, others pointed out that heroes like Invisible Woman have outfits where they are scantily clad. One person suggested that the skin's shorts didn't make sense within the context of the Weapon X program. It's worth noting that, as of writing, the comments on the Reddit post have been locked.

Wolverine wasn't the only hero to receive a new skin on June 5, as Marvel Rivals' Jeff the Land Shark received a new costume called Sunshine Land Shark. It's an original design that gives the Strategist a summer makeover, similar to the way Squirrel Girl and Rocket Raccoon recently received "Sunshine" skins that show them in beach attire. Despite a few hiccups here and there, many fans are feeling optimistic about the future of Marvel Rivals.
