Summary

  • Fans have been coming up with concepts for new heroes to add to Marvel Rivals.
  • One fan imagines Wasp as a Strategist with healing abilities.
  • Marvel Rivals is expected to get more heroes in the future.

A Marvel Rivals fan has just imagined an impressive move set for Wasp should the famous heroine eventually become a playable character. Marvel Rivals has been very successful since its full launch earlier this month, with gamers diving headfirst into the multiplayer hero shooter’s cast of classic Marvel characters and frantic Overwatch-style action. There are currently 33 playable Marvel Rivals characters to choose from, and developer NetEase has promised much more to come.

Fans have already filled their wishlists for future Marvel Rivals characters, with a poll released before the game's December 2024 launch suggesting that Ghost Rider, Deadpool, and Gambit are among those that gamers want to play the most. Others have asked for characters like Yondu of Guardians of the Galaxy fame and resident X-Men teleporter Nightcrawler, while recent Marvel Rivals leaks have hinted at exciting additions like the Fantastic Four’s Mr. Fantastic, Human Torch, and The Thing alongside the villainous robot Ultron.

In the meantime, a Reddit user by the handle of Exurii recently shared their concept kit set for a Marvel Rivals version of The Wasp, a classic Avengers member who hasn’t been added to the game yet. This take on Wasp seems to be based on the Hope van Dyne version from the MCU, and is classified as a Strategist. This means that Wasp would be focused on healing teammates and providing stat-boosting effects to help win the match.

Marvel Rivals Concept Envisions Wasp as a Strategist

Wasp’s primary moves are a short-range Concussive Blast and a Medical Amplifier, the latter of which would release a cone-shaped healing ray to bring allies back into fighting form. Wasp’s would-be Marvel Rivals abilities also include Bio-mech Symphony, which releases toxins that inflict anti-heal on opponents, Microlight Aviation, in which Wasp shrinks down for continuous flight, Stinging Nettle, a cluster of mines that also inflict anti-heal, and Smoke Barrage, which releases a wall of smoke that covers the battlefield. For her Marvel Rivals Team-Up ability, Wasp has Apoidea Overhead, which she would perform alongside Ant-Man.

Many other Reddit users are impressed with Exurii’s Marvel Rivals Wasp concept, though some would rather have the original Janet van Dyne version of the character instead of the more modern Hope. Exurii has also posted a concept of Ant-Man as a Marvel Rivals Duelist, which seems designed to be used in tandem with their hypothetical version of the Wasp. Both characters have a long and storied history in Marvel comics and films, and would make interesting additions to the growing Marvel Rivals roster.
