As is the case with many other rumors, news of Ultron's inclusion in Marvel Rivals was first revealed by RivalsLeaks on X/Twitter. This account has had a solid track record with the game so far, which definitely leads a decent amount of credibility to this leak in particular. Ultron is far from the only character to be the subject of rumors, with others such as The Fantastic Four receiving plenty of buzz as well.
Many leaks surrounding upcoming characters have been relatively light, with some being limited purely to names in a datamine. Others have been revealed in more depth, going so far as to include a full render or an in-game sprite. Ultron definitely falls in the latter category, and may even boast the most extensive leaks Marvel Rivals has had so far.
Ultron Could Arrive in Marvel Rivals Much Sooner Than Expected
Of course, the first information leaked about Ultron was that he was likely to make it into the game at all. Shortly after, it was revealed that Ultron was due to be released sooner rather than later. Many hoped that this could mean Ultron may have a gameplay reveal at The Game Awards 2024, but this did not come to pass. Thankfully, there was another date that fans could look forward to.
No upcoming character has an official release date, or even an exact date that has been leaked. However, one can still measure the potential roadmap based on a few outside factors. Given that every member of The Fantastic Four has been leaked in Marvel Rivals, it can be assumed that one of them will be released alongside The Fantastic Four: First Steps. With Ultron's release date simply being labeled as "soon," it is safe to say that he will release long before any movie tie-in.
The most recent wave of leaks has painted an even clearer picture, with some claiming that Ultron will definitely be released as a part of Season 1. Marvel Rivals is still in Season 0 at the moment, meaning Ultron could be released in less than a month if these leaks are to be believed. Credible as any given person may be, it's still important to take this with a grain of salt. After all, information like this isn't nearly as concrete as something like a character's kit, which can typically be datamined from the game itself.
Ultron's Abilities May Be Exactly What Marvel Rivals Needs
While Ultron's rumored release date is plenty surprising, his kit is even more reason to get excited. Players have seen a clear picture of what Ultron will look like in the game, thanks to a leaked picture of his portrait. A recent post by RivalsLeaks has even shown some of Ultron's character models behind the in-game menu of his kit. This kind of physical evidence lends a strong amount of credibility to other leaks, and if the rumors remain true after all, Ultron's inclusion in Marvel Rivals could be great news.
Ultron will supposedly be a Strategist in Marvel Rivals, which is great news considering the game's overwhelming number of Duelists. Despite being a support, Ultron seems more than capable of defending himself, with a standard fire that appears to resemble Ramattra's laser in Overwatch 2. Ultron's other abilities focus on summoning and commanding drones to take care of allies within a certain range, with drones summoned in his Ultimate being capable of damaging enemies as well as healing allies.
Ultron is even capable of free flight, something that is strictly limited for most characters other than Iron Man. Ultron also appears to use Marvel Rivals' Team-Up abilities thanks to Peni Parker, but this is a little more difficult to confirm. These are some of the many abilities in Ultron's arsenal that will make him a worthy addition to Marvel Rivals. While this information has yet to be officially confirmed, many of these leaks have enough credibility for fans to get excited.
