Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol event brings auto chess to Marvel Rivals. Participating in this limited-time auto battler will give players the chance to earn some free rewards like emojis, sprays, and more. This is one of the biggest events Marvel Rivals has added to date, and there's enough depth here to warrant Ultron's Battle Matrix returning regularly with new updates and an expanded roster of heroes.

If you're unfamiliar with auto chess, it's basically a 6v6 team fight that players have no control of. You place your favorite Marvel Rivals heroes onto a grid, buy upgrades that reduce their cooldowns and increase their stats, and then watch them duke it out with another player's team of six. You have some abilities that can quickly heal your team or deal some minor damage, but the results of the battle are ultimately up to your AI-controlled heroes on the field. For players who want to participate in Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol, these are the rewards on the table, and the best teams to give you the best chance of winning auto chess matches.

Marvel Rivals Ultron's Battle Matrix Schedule and Rewards

Marvel Rivals Ultron Battle Matrix Grid

The Ultron's Battle Matrix event kicks off on Friday, June 6 in Marvel Rivals. The event lasts for about two weeks, ending on Monday, June 23. There's no info about the event returning after that, so make sure you jump in as soon as possible to claim the limited-time rewards.

Earning 2,000 points in Ultron's Battle Matrix matches will earn you the "Think, Human!" Emoji. Completing three matches will get you the Ultron-1 spray, and completing 10 matches gets you the Acceptable emoji. As you'd expect, these are all Ultron-themed rewards. There's a leaderboard that tracks everyone's win rate globally, but there aren't any rewards tied to rankings or individual performance.

Best Teams and Upgrades for Ultron's Battle Matrix

Ultron's Battle Matrix allows you to choose six heroes from a limited pool. Some hero combinations are stronger than others, but there isn't a one-size-fits-all solution, since your enemies can counter your team composition by changing heroes or buying different upgrades. You can swap heroes during a match, but doing so will cost you a sizable chunk of your income after a round.

Scarlet Witch Team Composition

Marvel Rivals reveals gameplay of the Immortal Sovereign skin for Scarlet Witch.

One of the strongest Marvel Rivals heroes in Ultron's Battle Matrix is Scarlet Witch, but she's a glass cannon that requires a lot of protection. If Wanda survives long enough to use her ultimate, however, she'll clear most of the field in a single blow unless your enemy has a shield to block it. To support Scarlet Witch, bring Doctor Strange and Venom to get the enemy team's attention. Then, use Loki and Invisible Woman to heal everyone. You can fill the last slot with another Vanguard, Duelist, or Strategist depending on your needs.

Venom Team Composition

Venom is also one of the strongest characters for Ultron's Battle Matrix, but his AI causes him to recklessly rush headfirst into the enemy team. If you want to build a Venom team, support him with three Strategists and use Duelists like Hawkeye that benefit from Venom's distractions. Upgrades are crucial for keeping Venom alive in this team composition, so focus on buying the blue Vanguard upgrades that boost his health. Buffing your Strategists' healing output is a good idea, too.

Flying Heroes Team Composition

Marvel Rivals reveals balance changes coming in the major 2.5 update.

Flying heroes are annoying in regular multiplayer matches, and they can really put in some work in Ultron's Battle Matrix, too. Pick Storm and Human Torch, place them in your backline, and use Vanguards like Doctor Strange and Magneto to keep them protected from the enemy team. Unless your enemies have ranged heroes like Hawkeye, they'll have a hard time eliminating your flying Duelists. Also, Invisible Woman is one of the strongest Strategists for this team composition, since her ultimate ability reaches up into the air, healing and hiding your flying characters.

Loki Team Composition

Loki is ridiculously powerful in Ultron's Battle Matrix, so much so that you can build an entire team around him. Place Loki in the back corner of your side and then protect him with aggressive Vanguards like Hulk or The Thing to draw the enemy team's attention away from that corner. Pair Loki with ranged Duelists like Hawkeye and give your Vanguards some assistance with Strategists like Luna Snow or Mantis. If you buy Strategist upgrades in between rounds, Loki and his clones will become the ultimate healing machines. His ultimate will also come in clutch if the round goes on long enough.

Hopefully, NetEase will see the community's reaction to Ultron's Battle Matrix and bring it back for Marvel Rivals players to enjoy down the line. There's a lot of depth here, and the mode is still missing some of the best Marvel Rivals characters.
