NetEase Games shows off the villain Knull in its latest Marvel Rivals trailer, Dooms' Rise. The new title has received a lot of attention from fans as the developers have announced free rewards and collaborations ahead of launch. Marvel Rivals has enjoyed a largely successful debut and currently has a rating of "mostly positive" on Steam.
Marvel Rivals is a third-person free-to-play hero shooter where two teams of 6 players face off against one another to complete various objectives. Ahead of launch, NetEase Games was busy announcing new maps and many new heroes for Marvel Rivals. The game currently features a roster of 33 characters for players to choose from. The developer has also confirmed that all heroes and villains will be free for players to use as they release. Gamers on PC, PS5, and Xbox can all play with one another as the game features full crossplay, but does not support cross-progression.
The newest trailer for Marvel Rivals focuses on multiple Doctor Doom variants manipulating the time stream. However, near the end of the trailer, fans can see a close-up of the villain Knull. At the moment, players don't know about NetEase Games' plans for the future, as it has not been revealed how often new characters or maps will be released. On various social media platforms, fans are speculating that Knull could be a major antagonist in Season One of the hero shooter and may even be featured in a future battle pass. NetEase Games recently announced that Marvel Rivals battle passes will not have a time limit, allowing players to complete passes at their leisure.
Marvel Rivals Teases Knull in New Trailer
Within the comics, Knull created the symbiotes and is considered an eldritch god of darkness. Knull was at the center of the King in Black storyline and faced off against Venom multiple times. The appearance of Knull may mean that more symbiote characters could be on the way. It would seem that Knull is not the only major antagonist about to make his debut in the game. Dataminers recently leaked that the villain Ultron may be coming to Marvel Rivals in the near future, though that remains to be seen.
The appearance of Knull managed to surprise many fans, as leakers have been hard at work revealing new heroes and villains in Marvel Rivals. Somehow, NetEase Games managed to keep Knull a secret, which is no easy task with the amount of attention the game has received recently. With the new launch of Marvel Rivals and speculation about future characters, it seems as if fans have a lot to look forward to.
