Marvel Rivals blends some of the most famous characters in comics with Overwatch-style action for a multiplayer hero shooter that has already proven to be a hit with gamers. Its roster features an assortment of mainstream characters like Hulk and Spider-Man and relative newcomers like Luna Snow and the Lin Lie version of Iron Fist.
The Marvel Rivals line-up also features Squirrel Girl, a quirky superhero who has been saving the day since her first appearance in Marvel Super-Heroes Vol. 2 #8 in 1991. Doreen Allene Green possesses the ability to communicate with squirrels in addition to a host of squirrel-like powers, all of which have enabled her to challenge some of the most powerful beings in the Marvel universe. Squirrel Girl was confirmed as a playable Duelist in Marvel Rivals alongside the aforementioned Iron Fist back in November, less than a month before the game launched on December 6.

Since then, Marvel Rivals’ take on Squirrel Girl has proven to be a popular character to both play and cosplay as, and some Reddit users on r/marvelrivals have started comparing her to versions from past Marvel games. In particular, PandaThatSLAYS posted a side-by-side image of the Squirrel Girl from the 2015 mobile game Marvel Future Fight and her more stylized self from Marvel Rivals, with many in the comments preferring the latter.
Many Marvel Rivals Fans Prefer Squirrel Girl’s New Look
Other gamers have noted their preferences towards Squirrel Girl’s look in 2012’s Marvel: Avengers Alliance and even pointed out her blocky appearance in the Marvel-themed LEGO games from Traveler’s Tales. One fan in particular even brought up Squirrel Girl’s initial comic book debut, saying that any of the above-mentioned video game designs are already a marked improvement over her somewhat bizarre-looking first outing.
