  • Climbing Marvel Rivals' competitive ranks solo requires positivity and learning from mistakes.

A motivated Marvel Rivals player has accomplished the impressive feat of reaching the game’s highest competitive rank, One Above All, entirely through solo play. As Marvel Rivals continues to grow in popularity, climbing the competitive ranks can be a serious challenge in this popular team-based hero shooter.

The first competitive season of Marvel Rivals launched on December 8, just a few days after the game’s official release. Once they reach level 10 or above, players unlock Competitive Play and can climb the competitive ranks in Marvel Rivals. Just like in Quick Play or other game modes, players can choose from a roster of over 30 different Marvel heroes and villains, each filling one of three roles: Duelists, Vanguards, or Strategists. Marvel Rivals features eight different Rank divisions for Competitive Play, from Bronze to the coveted One Above All rank.

A Marvel Rivals player known as AdvancedCartoonist15 on Reddit recently shared their story of climbing to One Above All only through solo queuing. According to their Marvel Rivals career page, this dedicated player spent 61 hours playing 392 matches, winning 235 of them and killing over 6,000 enemies throughout their games. These impressive stats made them reach One Above All during the first competitive season of Marvel Rivals, a tough challenge, especially without relying on a consistent team.

Marvel Rivals Player Reaches One Above All Playing Solo

In the comments to this Reddit post, fellow Marvel Rivals players were impressed by AdvancedCartoonist15’s dedication in climbing the competitive ranks playing only solo. When other players asked how they achieved this feat, AdvancedCartoonist15 said that the hardest part was to stay positive even when teaming up with teammates unwilling to play as a team. They mainly played as Vanguard characters like Thor, Doctor Strange or Magneto, allowing them to take damage for their team and set the pace of team fights. As in other team-based hero shooters like Overwatch 2 or Apex Legends, analyzing mistakes after each match can help players improve and is crucial to competitive success.

Marvel Rivals players have plenty of content to look forward to as they try to climb the competitive ranks. A recent leak suggested that Marvel Rivals will introduce Valkyrie as a playable character. Other leaks teased new characters and maps joining Marvel Rivals in the upcoming months, like Deadpool’s potential debut and a new skin for Doctor Strange inspired by his appearance on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
