  • Players are asking for more Vanguards and Strategists to balance the Duelist-heavy roster.
  • NetEase Games is now tracking accounts suspected of smurfing in Marvel Rivals, issuing warnings to deter the behavior.

With the launch of Season 3 of Marvel Rivals on July 11, NetEase Games made some significant changes to the way it tracks mission progress at the end of a match in the popular hero shooter. Marvel Rivals recently added the mutant Jean Grey to the game as the Duelist Phoenix, exciting many fans who have been asking the developers to add more X-Men to the title.

While many people were pleased to see Phoenix arrive in the game, some players are unhappy with the number of Duelists in Marvel Rivals. As of writing, Duelists far outnumber the other two classes, Vanguards and Strategists. While all three roles can be critical to the success of a team, those who prefer Duelists have far more options at their disposal. Some gamers are hoping that Season 4 and 5 will focus on adding more Vanguards and Strategists to the title.

In a recent post on Reddit, _GhostHawk_ stated that they're enjoying the recent changes NetEase Games has made to Marvel Rivals' UI with the launch of Season 3. Now, at the end of a match, the UI will display just how much progress players have made toward completing challenges. The images they shared showcased the UI tracking their progress through seasonal missions and the Milano Repair Logs event. In addition to showing how much progress has been made, the game also shows which rewards can now be claimed, or what players will be able to claim in the near future.

Marvel Rivals Players Are Enjoying the Season 3 UI Changes

Alongside the UI improvements, it seems as if NetEase Games has made changes to its system that allow it to track accounts suspected of smurfing in Marvel Rivals. Once the system flags a player who has engaged in smurfing, it issues an immediate warning, stating that continuing to engage in the activity will have consequences. While the warning doesn't state exactly what will happen to people breaking the rule, many players suspect that NetEase Games could issue suspensions or even bans to prevent the activity from continuing. While gamers have been able to report players for smurfing in the past, this new detection system demonstrates NetEase Games' commitment to reducing the issue as much as possible.

A recent roadmap for Season 3 of Marvel Rivals revealed that its next major update, which will launch Season 3.5, will make its debut on August 8. This update will add Blade to the game, a hero who has been teased since the release of Season 1, where the hero was taken captive by the villain Dracula. With a whole new season to enjoy and even more content just around the corner, many fans are feeling optimistic about the future of Marvel Rivals.
