Marvel Rivals has made a cheeky change to some of its character models with the recent arrival of Season 2. While the official patch notes don't mention this, Marvel Rivals fans have noticed that many heroes, especially the male ones, have been quietly "caked up."
It goes without saying that Marvel Rivals' distinctive and stylized character designs are one of its biggest draws. Regardless of whether it's a male or female hero in Marvel Rivals, developer NetEase Games hasn't been shy about designing them in a perceptibly attractive fashion. However, Marvel Rivals' male characters, especially Captain America and Wolverine, have attracted an interesting complaint from some fans. Apparently, the male heroes aren't as well-endowed in the back as the female characters in Marvel Rivals.
Marvel Rivals Season 2 is Causing Some Headaches for PC Gamers
Marvel Rivals Season 2 is finally here, bringing with it big changes and a new character, but also a frustrating issue for PC players.
That all seems to have changed with the onset of Marvel Rivals Season 2, though, as recently-posted side-by-side comparisons of old and new character models highlight a noticeable increase in buttock size in the latter. Characters like Bucky, Wolverine, Moon Knight, Mr. Fantastic, Black Panther, and Star Lord have more sculpted and rounded rumps compared to the flattish bottoms of their prior models, signaling that NetEase clearly went back and made design tweaks in an effort to address the complaints.
Marvel Rivals Increases Cheek Sizes for Several Characters
These design changes aren't limited to just the male Marvel Rivals heroes either, as a separate Reddit post pointed out that the X-Suit skins for Magik and Psylocke are dramatically more "caked up." Meanwhile, others found it funny that NetEase devs were carefully analyzing the "cheek sizes" of the character models and buffing them to look just right. Interestingly, NetEase seems to be leaning increasingly harder into the "cake" jokes, with Venom also receiving a twerk emote in Marvel Rivals on April Fools' Day earlier this month.
The aforementioned character design "upgrades" are a clear sign that NetEase closely monitors feedback and online discourse about Marvel Rivals, and is willing to incorporate even trivial changes if enough fans voice demand. One Redditor speculated that NetEase devs could be responding to the most upvoted content on the Marvel Rivals subreddit, which makes a lot of sense given the timing and nature of the recent buttock enhancements. Either way, the devs clearly understand what gets Marvel Rivals fans talking, and with more heroes inbound for the live-service shooter, it should be interesting to see how caked up they'll be.
