Marvel Rivals has given players their first look at a new way to earn cosmetics called a Combat Chest, which functions similarly to a battle pass in the popular hero shooter. NetEase Games recently announced that it will be launching its major Season 2.5 update for Marvel Rivals on May 30, and players are already excited to experience all of the new content being added to the title.
It was recently revealed that the May 30 update will also include a new store rotation, which will introduce new skins for Ultron and Groot in Marvel Rivals. Groot's new Yggroot design imagines the Vanguard as the legendary tree Yggdrasill, connecting the many realms together through his branches. Meanwhile, the X-Tron costume gives Ultron a gold and crimson makeover, showing the villain in an even more sinister light.
Marvel Rivals Reveals Season 2.5 Update Patch Notes
Marvel Rivals gives players a first look at the changes they can expect to see when NetEase Games launches its major Season 2.5 update on May 30.
In a recent post on Twitter, Miller Ross gave players their first look at Combat Chests, which seem to function similarly to a battle pass in Marvel Rivals. The Combat Chest will be available for 690 Lattice, though some cosmetics are available for free. Once a Combat Chest is purchased, people can unlock its rewards at their own pace, as it does not expire. Unlike the standard battle pass, Combat Chests progress by playing matches instead of spending Chrono Tokens. The Combat Chest appears to contain a wide variety of cosmetics, including a new skin for Storm with an impressive MVP animation.
Marvel Rivals Is Introducing Combat Chests
The upcoming Combat Chest also seems to come with a free skin for the Duelist Mister Fantastic in Marvel Rivals. The high-tech costume appears to be based on the character's Future Foundation costume from the comics. The skin's MVP screen shows off unreleased skins for Spider-Man, The Thing, and Invisible Woman as well, though they aren't included in the Combat Chest. It's possible these skins will show up as part of an upcoming store update or some kind of event.
The Combat Chest also includes a Legendary skin for the Vanguard Magneto in Marvel Rivals. The costume is called Binary Sword, and it seems to show a variant of Magneto that has been infected with a machine virus created by the villain Ultron. The Combat Chest also includes an MVP screen for the upcoming skin. This costume appears to be similar to a new skin coming out for Hawkeye, which is called Binary Arrow. The Duelist has received a similar machine-driven makeover, though this skin will be available for free for those who complete the upcoming Cerebro Database event. With so much content to enjoy and even more just around the corner, many fans are feeling optimistic about the future of Marvel Rivals.
