Marvel Rivals players have come together to express their frustration with the popular Duelist Black Panther, claiming that he's currently overpowered and doesn't have an effective counter. NetEase Games is preparing to release Marvel Rivals' major mid-season update on August 8, which will also add Blade to the hero shooter's ever-expanding roster.
It was recently revealed that Magik and Black Panther will be receiving new skins in Marvel Rivals on July 31 at 7 PM PDT. While Magik's Phoenix Demon skin shows the Duelist sporting dark leather and a flaming Phoenix on her chest, Black Panther can be seen sporting gold armor with a flaming crown as part of his Phoenix Panther costume. As of writing, NetEase Games has not revealed how much either of these cosmetics will cost.
Rumor: Marvel Rivals Could Be Teasing New Skin for The Thing
Marvel Rivals reveals fresh artwork that could be teasing a new skin for the Vanguard The Thing in NetEase Games' popular hero shooter.
In a recent post on Reddit, LingLauYoMadu shared a video of themselves participating in a Quick Play match. In the video, they can be seen playing Marvel Rivals' Luna Snow, when suddenly the Strategist is eliminated in a flash. The culprit behind this elimination was a very skilled Black Panther player, but LingLauYoMadu believes the hero himself is likely overpowered. They asked how gamers are even supposed to counter Black Panther, as he moves very quickly and can take someone down with just a couple of swipes. In the comments, tbigzan97 suggested that Black Panther should leave a trail behind him as he moves, pointing out that Genji does something similar in Overwatch 2. Many people responded positively to the idea, as it would allow players to track Black Panther's movements in a meaningful way.
Marvel Rivals Players Believe Black Panther Is Overpowered
In another post, Iced-TeaManiac shared their own frustrating experience of coming up against Black Panther in Marvel Rivals. According to them, even when both teams have a Black Panther, they claim the Duelists won't fight one another. They believe this is because Black Panther is a hassle to deal with, and they're possibly not even capable of countering one another. Other gamers claimed that they've seen opposing Black Panther players run by one another, as they will both likely be more effective attacking the back line of the enemy team.
While there's no way of knowing if or when NetEase Games will respond to the concerns of its community, Marvel Rivals is constantly making balance adjustments to keep the battlefield fun and fair. It's likely the next round of adjustments will be seen when the major mid-season update launches on August 8. Despite some hiccups here and there, many fans seem to be feeling optimistic about the future of Marvel Rivals.
