Is there anything worse than loading into a game of Marvel Rivals and being curb-stomped by an enemy Ultimate that is just way too powerful? There are plenty of heroes in Marvel Rivals that definitely could do with a nerf to help balance the game, but what needs attention even more is the level of power within each character’s Ultimates.
Marvel Rivals: 8 Heroes Who Need Stronger Ultimates
While some of the best heroes in Marvel Rivals can change the structure of the game with their ultimate, these heroes are a tad underwhelming.
Some Ultimates in Marvel Rivals are way too strong and overpowered to the point where when a hero calls it out, there’s not really much point trying to do anything to counter it other than waiting for the respawn counter. With that said, it’s time to take a look at some truly infuriating and overpowered Ultimates.
7 Star-Lord
Galactic Legend Provides Auto-Aim for 8 Seconds

Become a legendary Guardian of the Galaxy with Star-Lord’s Ultimate ability, which enables him to engage in a free-flight mode so that he can soar the skies, while also providing him with an instant and automatic lock-on to enemies within his sight so that he can freely kill them without having to worry about his accuracy.
Star-Lord’s Ultimate, Galactic Legend, is absurd to come up against. While the Ultimate itself is nothing to worry about on its own, it’s the fact that it comes with a gigantic 8-second window where Star-Lord can basically roam the map to kill anything and anyone in sight.
6 Psylocke
Dance of the Butterfly Deals Massive Damage With Barely Any Counters
|
Ultimate |
Dance of the Butterfly |
|
Description |
Slash nearby enemies with a psionic katana, dealing massive damage. |
|
Damage |

|
Duration |

|
Range |

|
Slow Rate |

|
Recovery Cost |
2,800 Energy |
Psylocke’s Ultimate unlocks her vicious psionic katana, where Dance of the Butterfly will allow her to open up a radius of attack where she will strike endlessly for 4 seconds, providing 10 meters of a spherical radius in total death. It’s absurd, it’s annoying, and it’s Psylocke.
As soon as Psylocke cries into her Ultimate, those within her circle need to accept their fate and just wait to respawn. The damage is too high, the radius is too big, and the fact that it’s basically impossible to hit her and get her out of this mode just makes it tiresome to fight against.
5 Iron Man
An Invincible Pulse Cannon Eradicates Teams in Seconds
|
Ultimate |
Invincible Pulse Cannon |
|
Description |
Fire a devastating pulse cannon in the targeted direction, delivering catastrophic damage to the targeted area upon impact. |
|
Damage |

|

|
Range |

Iron Man is already fairly obnoxious to fight against considering he is always in the air, but when he gets his Ultimate, players might change their sadness to one of amusement when they see him die in Avengers: Endgame. Iron Man’s Invincible Pulse Cannon is a generating field of energy that lays waste to whoever’s feet it lands at. It can be used to destroy grouped-up targets or even singled-out enemies.
12 Best Duelists In Marvel Rivals, Ranked
These Duelists stand out from the rest as the best heroes in Marvel Rivals to ensure that players are always dominating the competition.
The fact that it’s basically Scarlet Witch’s Ultimate but without the charge-up time, and actually travels until impact, makes it a true blight against the heroes who just want to enjoy a standard game of Marvel Rivals. The damage would be acceptable if it wasn’t for the fast charge time.
4 Hela
The Goddess of Death Becomes Invulnerable in the Skies to Unleash Deadly Crows
|
Ultimate |
Goddess of Death |
|
Description |
Soar into the sky and unleash Nastrond Crows from each hand at will. |
|
Damage |
125 |
|
Duration |
10 seconds |
|
Fire Rate |
1.79/s |
|
Range |
6 meters (spherical) |
|
Bonus Health |

|
Recovery Cost |
4,000 Energy |
One of the most highly requested characters to get nerfed is Hela, there are a few factors to consider, but the most important is her Ultimate. When Hela activates the Goddess of Death Ultimate, she soars into the sky and becomes unkillable, effectively remaining high up where she cannot be grabbed, stunned, or killed, leaving her up there to torment her victims.
From the sky, she unleashes a barrage of projectiles that will detonate on the ground, providing those hit with 125 damage. With a 6-meter radius that lasts for 10 seconds, Hela’s Ultimate is truly annoying to come up against, which is expected from her already annoying tool kit.
3 Storm
Omega Hurricane Provides an Invincible Storm with a Lethal Ultimate
|
Ultimate |
Omega Hurricane |
|
Description |
Transform into a hurricane to draw in nearby enemies and deal damage. |
|
Damage |
75 |
|
Duration |
5 seconds |
|
Bonus Health |
400 |
|
Range |
8 meters (spherical) |
|
Recovery Cost |
3,100 Energy |
A character that deserved a buff now deserves a nerf, as Storm is way too strong in the current meta. Storm’s abilities aren’t the only thing that needs a nerf, as her Ultimate seems to be the strongest in the game for practically no reason at all. During her Omega Hurricane, Storm is unkillable thanks to the fact that her Ultimate heals her, and she can transform into a hurricane to suck in enemies and basically instantly kill them due to the fact that it’s impossible to escape.
Giving Storm an Ultimate where she can’t be killed and can quickly navigate the battlefield to kill anyone in her path, just seems like a recipe for disaster for those who don’t have Storm on the team, so this isn’t an Ultimate that needs another buff.
2 Jeff the Land Shark
Eat Enemies and Spit Them Out So They Fall to Their Deaths, It’s Jeff!
|
Ultimate |
It's Jeff! |
|

Deep dive into the scene and resurface to swallow both enemies and allies within range, activating Hide and Seek for a brief duration before ejecting the swallowed heroes forward. |

Jeff the not-so-loveable Land Shark is a true monster that needs to be eradicated by Mjolnir. This Land Shark is capable of great evil with his healing output, but even more powerful and sinister is his It’s Jeff! Ultimate, which has him dive into the ground to become unkillable, where he has a 20-meter radius to eat any target underneath him, whether it’s friend or foe.
Marvel Rivals: Every Strategist, Ranked
Strategists are essential in the team composition in Marvel Rivals due to their ability to heal allies and deal lethal damage, but who is a must-have?
For his allies, he can spit them out with full health, but for his enemies, he can rush to the nearest cliff and throw them all off. Jeff is an easy way to kill players on the other team that need to go, and the fact that his health and speed make him unstoppable, this Ultimate deserves a nerf.
1 Luna Snow
The Fate of Both Worlds Provides 12 Seconds of Invincibility
|
Ultimate |
Fate of Both Worlds |
|
Description |
Take center stage and start dancing! Press to toggle between two performances: Heal allies or grant them Damage Boost. |
|

Recovery Cost |

Sure, a Strategist having a clutch Ultimate that can be used to save the team is never a bad thing. Yet, an Ultimate that can save the entire team for a whopping 12 seconds? That’s a little bit too much. Luna Snow’s Fate of Both Worlds ability allows her to take the stage and dance to save her team, where her healing output far exceeds what should be possible.
This Ultimate has Luna Snow run around with great mobility to instantly heal her allies, and those within her radius basically have infinite health. It’s rather absurd to see Luna Snow save the team, allowing them to maximize their damage output for 12 seconds for team wipes. Nothing can counter it, so why not lower that time a bit?
