A Marvel Rivals player has recently created concept art for Nightcrawler, an iconic X-Men character that is currently not available to play in the popular multiplayer game. Marvel Rivals was released with 33 characters, including several classic heroes and villains, such as Captain America, Doctor Strange, Magneto, Thor, Iron Man, and others, but Nightcrawler did not get a place in the spotlight, despite the character’s popularity with Marvel fans.
Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play live-service third-person hero shooter released earlier in December. Marvel Rivals achieved positive reviews, and it currently holds an average critic score of 78 on OpenCritic, with most critics praising its roster of characters, gameplay, and unique team-up abilities, but also criticizing the lack of a meaningful progression.
Now, a Marvel Rivals fan called David Herzen (also known as Responsible-Ad394) has shared a unique Nightcrawler concept for the game with the community. In this fan-made concept art, Nightcrawler is depicted with the superhero trappings of Marvel Rivals, wearing bulky armor and using a blade with his tail. When compared to some original Marvel designs that appear in the comics, this new concept art stands out by modifying the character’s iconic red and black outfit, which is generally much simpler. The Marvel Rivals community loved Herzen’s creation, giving over 2,100 upvotes to the fan art, with many fans revealing that they want Nightcrawler to be added to Marvel Rivals soon.

Nightcrawler is not the only fan-made concept shared by Herzen with the community recently. Earlier this week, the fan also shared a concept art of Gambit in Marvel Rivals, which had armor, the character’s iconic jacket, and staff. Like Nightcrawler, Gambit is another X-Men character that did not appear in the popular hero shooter but is very popular with the fan base.
Another X-Men character depicted as a Marvel Rivals hero was Cyclops, whose design was also created by David Herzen. Like the other designs of the artist, this version of Cyclops was bulkier than how it’s presented in most versions of the comics, and it had a stylish blue and brown outfit.
Unfortunately, neither Nightcrawler nor any of these other X-Men have been confirmed as coming to Marvel Rivals in the future, so fans can only hope that they will be added eventually. Recently, Marvel Rivals revealed five Winter Celebration event skins, offering one free skin for the popular Jeff the Land Shark and premium skins for Venom, Groot, Rocket Raccoon, and Magik.
