Marvel Rivals already has a massive roster of playable characters with more on the way later this season when The Thing and Human Torch are scheduled to join. With its ever-growing roster, the game is no stranger to leaks and a recent Marvel Rivals rumor suggests some popular X-Men characters are on the way. While the leaked additions of Gambit, Rogue, and Jubilee are exciting for Marvel Rivals fans, it's Rogue who may be the most intriguing, as her powers in the Marvel universe leave the possibilities for her kit wide open.

While the legitimacy of this leak may be questionable, Rogue is still a very likely future addition to Marvel Rivals.

The X-Men have been thrust back into the Marvel spotlight with the success of the X-Men '97 Disney Plus series, as well as the Deadpool and Wolverine MCU film. Marvel Rivals' current X-Men representation is already evidence of the group's popularity, and since Rogue is one of its most popular members, her addition to the game seems like only a matter of time. However, what's unclear is how Marvel Rivals will utilize her power to absorb the abilities of those she touches, potentially laying the foundation for one of the most unique kits in the game.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy's future may be rocky at best, but thankfully its ensemble can be echoed in Marvel Rivals' live-service roster.

Marvel Rivals Could Take Rogue's Kit in a Variety of Directions

Rogue's Comic Appearance Lends Itself to Several Different Kit Options

Rogue is one of the most tragic characters in the Marvel universe as her mutant powers allow her to absorb the energy and memories of those she touches. While this power has left Rogue with the trauma of draining the life force of those she cares about, it also makes her an incredibly powerful mutant. Throughout her comic appearances, Rogue has used this power to gain the abilities of other heroes like Captain Marvel, Wonder Man, and Sunfire, which could make their way into her Marvel Rivals kit.

If Marvel Rivals wants to play it safe with Rogue's kit, it could use a combination of the powers she gained from Captain Marvel and Wonder Man as the basis of her skills. The power of flight would be a natural choice for Rogue, giving her similar movement options to Marvel Rivals' Iron Man and Storm. The seventh sense she gained from Captain Marvel could function similarly to the Punisher's Warrior's Gaze ability and reveal the location of enemies briefly after they move behind cover, and the ionic energy powers gained from Wonder Man could allow her to fire energy projectiles as her primary attack.

Rogue's Ideal Marvel Rivals Kit

While these permanent powers Rogue has gained from other heroes form a solid foundation for her kit, it would be incomplete without tapping into her absorption abilities. Making this power balanced while staying unique may be a tough task for Marvel Rivals to accomplish, but there are a few approaches the game could take to make it work. A simplified version of this ability could be similar to Scarlet Witch's Chaos Control primary attack or Moira's alt fire from Overwatch 2 that drains health from the enemy closest to the player, but this direction could feel like retreading old ground.

Rogue is rumored to be a Strategist in Marvel Rivals, meaning she would likely have some form of healing skill as well.

A more ambitious approach to Rogue's absorption ability could actually allow players to use skills from enemy characters that she comes into contact with for a brief period of time. While Loki's God of Mischief Ultimate already does something similar and allows him to actually take the form of another character to utilize their skills, perhaps one of Rogue's standard abilities could let her copy the ability of a selected character bound to that same skill slot for a single cooldown. This design would retain the spirit of Rogue's most iconic power while differentiating her enough from other Marvel Rivals characters to feel unique.
