Marvel Rivals has shown off the move sets and special abilities of two of its most recently announced fighters, the Immortal Iron Fist and the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. After almost a year of beta tests and character reveals, Marvel Rivals will finally launch in full on December 6. There are now 33 officially confirmed characters in Marvel Rivals’ upcoming Season 0, with the last five being unveiled in the game’s launch trailer earlier this weekend.
That last batch of new Marvel Rivals characters consisted of the Avengers’ resident super spy Black Widow, the crime-fighting tag team of Cloak and Dagger, the present-day Lin Lie incarnation of Iron Fist, the extremely popular (and surprisingly powerful) Squirrel Girl, and the iconic X-Men member Wolverine. They round out a packed roster of classic Marvel Comics characters and more obscure superheroes, each one with their own set of powers to lend to Marvel Rivals’ frantic, 6v6 arena shooter action.
The development team behind Marvel Rivals recently released a pair of gameplay trailers for Iron Fist and Squirrel Girl. First comes Iron Fits, a Marvel Rivals Duelist who battles opponents at close range with martial arts attacks like flying kicks and rapid punches. Iron Fist can also run along walls, meditate to restore health, and unleash the power of the dragon to enhance his blows for extra damage.
Iron Fist Marvel Rivals Move Set
- Duelist with close-range martial arts attacks.
- Healing meditation.
- Dragon-charged physical and projectile attacks.
Squirrel Girl Marvel Rivals Move Set
- Duelist with long-range slingshot attacks.
- Exploding acorn attack.
- Squirrel stampede special attack.
Meanwhile, the Marvel Rivals version of Squirrel Girl is more of a ranged Duelist, using a slingshot to fire at enemies from afar and throwing giant, exploding acorns for additional damage. True to her name, she can also call upon her squirrel friends to charge at opponents, possibly damaging multiple foes at once. In keeping with Squirrel Girl’s more comedic nature, her moves are often punctuated by comic book-style words and emotes from the pet squirrel on her head - who can also be seen tossing her ammo for her main attacks.
Both Iron Fist and Squirrel Girl will be available to play when Marvel Rivals launches in full on December 6, 2024. This date will also mark the beginning of Marvel Rivals’ Season 0, which will be centered around Doctor Doom and his attempts to control the Marvel multiverse through his sinister “Time Experiments.” There will also be plenty of special stages and bonus content during the first season of Marvel Rivals, such as special Twitch Drop rewards and alternate skins for characters like Captain America.
