How to Counter Ultron in Marvel Rivals
Ultron is a very strong hero when in capable hands. While on his own, he doesn't have high healing output; his Team-Up with Iron Man helps make up for this, and he has very solid damage with brilliant range. Additionally, his shields help to sustain himself and vulnerable allies through focus fire, meaning he has quite a bit of utility to offer. Knowing how to counter Ultron will certainly come in handy, so the best choices for doing so across every role have been explained below.
Best Ultron Counters On Vanguard
There aren't many options when it comes to shutting Ultron down completely on Vanguard. However, Shield tanks make some of the best options, as they can work with their team to block Ultron's incoming damage and help their DPS to apply pressure from cover.
- Doctor Strange, Magneto, and Emma Frost are all decent options under this umbrella. Strange has some of the best shielding potential due to how his cooldown and shield HP operate, and Emma Frost has the flexibility to place her shield in precise locations.
Best Ultron Counters On Duelist
Ultimately, the majority of the time, it will be up to the Duelists of the team to counter Ultron. When it comes to countering on this role, ranged characters (primarily hitscan and snipers) are, for the most part, the best option. However, some characters who have the ability to solo target heroes and apply lots of pressure (such as Spider-Man) can often work in the right hands, too.
- Hela has brilliant range and huge damage, meaning she can poke and take down Ultron rather quickly.
- The Punisher is in a great spot thanks to his recent buffs, and his damage is brilliant for gunning down Ultron or, at the very least, forcing him to play out in the open.
- Black Widow has great range as a sniper, so if you can hit your headshots, then she can be a great option for picking Ultron early in the fight.
- Similarly, Hawkeye is also in a relatively strong spot as of season 2.5. He can take out many squishier heroes in two hits, and he has good range. This makes him a very strong option if projectile heroes are your thing.
- Winter Soldier is pretty good against any type of dominant flyer or general flying comp in season 2.5. He has great damage output, and can even hook flyers out of the sky for a combo in the circumstance that they overextend or play out of position.
- Scarlet Witch, while not a hitscan, does have lock-on damage. Pair this with her ability to fly up into the sky, and she becomes quite capable of harassing Ultron and chipping away his HP.
- Spider-Man, if capable of catching Ultron out of position, or while his shields are on cooldown, can secure a quick pick on him and swing away. His classic bread-and-butter combo works well in this instance, especially if he has no shields. At the very least, Spidey can harass Ultron into using his cooldowns early, and then apply pressure while his team focuses on securing the pick.
Best Ultron Counters On Strategist
Strategists are actually surprisingly valuable when it comes to assisting in shutting down a good Ultron. This is because the Strategist Role has some of the best CC and utility in the game, which can then be used to focus Ultron while also sustaining yourself and your team with heals.
- For example, Luna Snow is a brilliant choice. As of season 2.5, she received a buff to her healing/damage, which is hitscan. This means a good Luna can simply shoot Ultron right out of the sky. Furthermore, she has her hugely impactful freeze ability, enabling her to freeze Ultron out of the air and make him drop into vulnerable positions.
- Cloak & Dagger are also a strong option. Dagger has a lock on damage/heals, which is handy for securing that final hit to pick Ultron or applying pressure between uses of your other cooldowns. Cloak also has a blinding window that can be used to disrupt Ultron's aim and lock on damage that is very effective at chipping down his HP.
- Adam Warlock has some of the strongest damage potential out of all Strategists, and a very powerful charged burst damage. This makes him great at taking down Ultron rapidly, as long as you can hit your shot. His Soul Bond also helps against the burst of Ultron's ultimate.
