Before today, there were 27 characters confirmed for Marvel Rivals' launch roster. The vast majority of this roster was playable during Marvel Rivals' playtests earlier this year, but there have been a handful of new heroes announced in the months since, with Captain America, Winter Soldier, Psylocke, and Moon Knight all officially revealed. And now, Marvel Rivals has just confirmed its 28th playable hero.

Set to launch right alongside his 27 teammates on December 6, Hawkeye is officially coming to Marvel Rivals. For anyone who's been closely following the leaks surrounding Marvel Rivals, Hawkeye's reveal won't come as too much of a surprise, with his character model, bio, and entire ability set having already leaked all the way back in May. But that doesn't make Hawkeye's inclusion in the hero shooter any less exciting.

Marvel Rivals' Unique Hawkeye Design

Marvel Rivals Hawkeye Art

Lovingly nicknamed the "Unmatched Sharpshooter," Marvel Rivals' version of Hawkeye boasts one of the game's sleekest character designs. While this iteration of Hawkeye retains his trademark purple color palette, his outfit is fairly different from what fans might be used to following his appearances in the MCU. Marvel Rivals' Hawkeye is an unashamed ronin, wielding both a bow and sword that can be used a variety of different ways during gameplay.

Marvel Rivals: Hawkeye's Abilities Explained

As one of Marvel Rivals' Duelists, Hawkeye's one and only goal is to deal as much damage as possible to opponents, and he has a bevy of abilities to do just that. Due to the precise nature of Hawkeye's primary fire and some of his more powerful abilities, he could end up being a tricky hero to master.

Piercing Arrow

Hawkeye's primary mode of fire in Marvel Rivals, Piercing Arrow fires one projectile at an enemy. Much like Overwatch's Hanzo, Hawkeye players are encouraged to aim their arrow carefully before firing, as reloading the single projectile takes some time. This primary fire makes Marvel Rivals' Hawkeye the perfect sniper.

Blast Arrow

Hawkeye's secondary fire sees the hero load his bow with three explosive arrows. Naturally, these Blast arrows deal damage to any enemies caught within their area-of-effect. Once this secondary fire is activated, players have three shots at their disposal.

Hypersonic Arrow

Hawkeye's Hypersonic Arrow essentially functions the same as his primary fire, though it damages any enemies caught in its path. This should be particularly useful for taking down larger groups of enemies.

Crescent Slash

Hawkeye's bow is only half of his arsenal in Marvel Rivals. This version of Marvel's (arguably) best sharpshooter is also adept at using a sword. Crescent Slash sees players use this sword to slice at their enemies, launching any hit opponents into the air.

Ronin Slash

Another sword-based ability, Hawkeye's melee attack sees the hero slashing in front of him. This attack not only damages enemies in front of Hawkeye, but deflects oncoming projectiles as well.

Skyward Leap

Probably the hero's most straightforward ability, Skyward Leap allows Hawkeye to double-jump.

Archer's Focus

Hawkeye's passive ability, Archer's Focus, is represented by the bar underneath the player's crosshair. This bar fills the longer players aim at a target, resulting in their fired projectile doing more damage.

Hawkeye's Ultimate - Hunter's Sight

An Ultimate that looks like it has the potential to be completely broken at launch, Hunter's Sight conjures up "Afterimages" of any foes in Hawkeye's line-of-sight. These Afterimages are essentially projections of the enemy's last few movements. Shooting any of these projections will damage the enemy target.
