- Fan-made hero concepts like Doc Ock and Sandman earn the approval of the game's community.
One Marvel Rivals fan has created a character concept for Doc Ock, revealing what the iconic Spider-Man villain could look like in the game. While Marvel Rivals already features an impressive roster of over 30 characters, fans have imagined the possibilities for future heroes.
Following its release in early December, NetEase Games faced the challenge of making Marvel Rivals stand out from established hero shooters, such as Overwatch 2. One way the developer managed to do this was by embracing its Marvel source material. The game takes many of the classic heroes and villains from the comics and gives them a recognizable yet unique look for the game. With the developer promising more characters and skins to be released in the months ahead, fans have already taken up the challenge of imagining possible roster additions.
Marvel Rivals’ Spider-Man Deserves a Game-Changing Kit Buff
Marvel Rivals' Spider-Man is kneecapped by having Web-Clusters that replenish and, while unlikely, a sizeable kit buff could rectify that.
Recently, a Twitter user known as CoryHarris.jpg shared artwork of a new character concept. Specifically, the artist created a version of Doc Ock designed for Marvel Rivals, and the result did not disappoint. As seen in the artwork, CoryHarris.jpg replicated many of the iconic aspects of the character seen in the comics and movies. Unsurprisingly, the villain had his four robotic arms. Furthermore, Doc Ock wore a brown trenchcoat with green and yellow clothes underneath. The concept art listed the character as a Vanguard, which would provide another option for those who enjoy that particular Marvel Rivals role.
Marvel Rivals Doc Ock Fan Concept
In the comments, many fans provided their opinion of the impressive character concept. With over 3.2K likes, many loved the design of Doc Ock and thought he would fit in well on the Marvel Rivals roster. In addition, other fans hoped for more Spider-Man villains to be added to the game, with one user suggesting Task Master, Green Goblin, and Rhino as characters with a lot of potential.
It is worth mentioning that this is not the first character concept that CoryHarris.jpg has created for the game. For example, the artist also designed a Marvel Rivals version of Sandman, revealing what the Spider-Man villain could look like in the hero shooter. This concept, another Vanguard, featured the character in a striped green shirt and brown pants, with massive arms made of sand.
While it is unknown if Dock Ock and Sandman will ever be added to the game, NetEase Games has already revealed two more heroes coming shortly. Specifically, The Thing and Human Torch will join Marvel Rivals, completing The Fantastic 4 lineup. With many more potential heroes already being leaked, hopefully, they will live up to the high expectations set by the community.
