Marvel Rivals has just shown off the move set and special abilities of Cloak and Dagger ahead of its full launch later this week. 33 playable characters have been confirmed for the first season of Marvel Rivals, with the last five being revealed on December 1. This power-packed group includes much hoped-for additions like Black Widow and Wolverine, modern favorites like Lin Lie as Iron Fist, and even the ever-quirky Squirrel Girl for extra variety on the battlefield. Cloak and Dagger stand out from the rest of the Marvel Rivals roster due to being two characters in one slot.
Many were left curious to see how this would play out in Marvel Rivals, but thankfully NetEase Games has been offering up closer looks at all the new roster additions in the build-up to Marvel Rivals’ full release on December 6. Each one has their own unique skills and abilities to help their teams pick up the victory, from Iron Fist and Squirrel Girl’s contrasting fighting styles to Black Widow’s ranged firearm attacks and Wolverine’s up-close-and-personal claw slashes.
Now it is Cloak and Dagger’s time to step into the spotlight, with a new Marvel Rivals gameplay trailer showing off the pair’s matching light-and-dark powers. They share the role of a Marvel Rivals Strategist character that can switch back and forth during combat. Dagger can blast her opponents from a distance using light blasts and heal teammates within a force field. Meanwhile, Cloak can levitate above the battlefield and damage multiple enemies at once with a dark wave attack. Both can unite their powers for a special move in which Cloak covers the field in a movement-obscuring shadow while Dagger brings the pain with a ricocheting dash attack.

According to the official character description included in the trailer, the Marvel Rivals incarnation of Cloak and Dagger are joined when the fabric of the multiverse is unraveled because of the Timestream Entrapment, forcing the once solitary heroes to unite their light and dark powers to save all of existence from Doctor Doom and his twisted experiments. Prior to their confirmation in Marvel Rivals, Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen entered the mainstream consciousness thanks to the two-season Cloak and Dagger series on Freeform.
The crime-fighting duo have been featured in numerous past Marvel video games, such as their appearance in classic beat-em-up Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage, their designated DLC pack in Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2, and the mobile card game Marvel Snap. It won’t be much longer before players can unleash the complementary powers of Cloak and Dagger in Marvel Rivals, with the pair standing apart from the rest of the game’s heroes and villains thanks to their alternating skill sets.
