Summary
- Mantis, Cloak and Dagger, and Luna Snow are the best Strategists against Spider-Man.
- Peni Parker's traps and web-stun can disrupt Spider-Man's back-line attacks.
- Hela, Scarlet Witch, and Namor are the best Duelists against Spider-Man.
Spider-Man is one of the best heroes in Marvel Rivals when it comes to infuriating the enemy back line, and even the Vanguards on specific maps (such as Hell's Heaven, where he can drag enemies off-stage). While the dive-DPS character quickly takes out healers and other Duelists, keeping the team together can become difficult.
Luckily, Spider-Man isn't too difficult to counter, as there are several different characters that can make Spider-Man's attempts at the back line impractical. Since Spider-Man relies on easy targets that are distanced from their teammates, positioning, composition, and the right DPS heroes can stomp the Web-Head out so the team can focus on the objective.
Marvel Rivals: 10 Best Teammates For Spider-Man
Here's who to pair with Spider-Man for the best chance at winning in Marvel Rivals.
7 Mantis
The Sleeping Spore
Spider-Man usually targets the Strategists on his opponent's team, as they are behind their teammates and have less health than other characters. With that in mind, players will need right Strategists to prevent Spider-Man from ruining a team's composition entirely. Mantis is a fantastic pick against Spider-Man, thanks to her ability to sleep foes.
With her sleep spore, Mantis can render an opponent unconscious. This sleep spore can prevent Spider-Man from taking out Mantis and ensure that she and/or her teammates get a quick KO on the DPS hero.
6 Peni Parker
Mines and Web-Stun
The Vanguards in Marvel Rivals don't have an exact counter to Spider-Man themselves, yet Peni Parker has proved very efficient at countering many characters with her webs and mines. Against Spider-Man, Peni Parker can help out her back line allies by placing mines around them.
Marvel Rivals: Hardest Characters To Master, Ranked
Not every character in Marvel Rivals is easy for players to use. Here are the hardest ones to master in the game.
When Spider-Man swings in to disrupt her healers, he'll be blown away by Peni's traps. Another prominent feature of Peni is her ability to stun foes with her web. When Spider-Man uses his ultimate AoE ability, Peni can use her web to stop his ultimate instantly.
5 Luna Snow
Healing Ultimate to Counter Damage and Self-Heal
Luna Snow is another strong pick for a Strategist on a team when going up against Spider-Man. Her ultimate ability allows her to save the entire team by constantly restoring their health, making incoming damage useless. A more focused counter to Spider-Man in Luna's abilities is the fact that she can slowly heal herself.
Spider-Man relies on his entire kit to land a KO combo; if he has one or two abilities on cooldown, he's unable to land a quick KO on an enemy. While Luna heals herself, Spider-Man will be unable to utilize his abilities efficiently, and will inevitably swing away to avoid losing a fight.
4 Scarlet Witch
Auto-Lock Primary Fire Counters Mobility
For those attempting to heal the Web-Slinger or those trying to shoot him down, it proves very difficult. Due to his high mobility, Spider-Man is constantly dodging ranged attacks. Scarlet Witch is a direct counter to this mobility, as the powerful Avenger can use her auto-lock primary fire to drain Spider-Man's health.
While he swings around, especially in an open area, Scarlet Witch can ensure the team's safety by not allowing Spider-Man the time to land a KO. Placing her stun ability upon herself or an ally also potentially stuns Spider-Man if he dives into the stun's AoE.
3 Cloak and Dagger
Auto-Lock Primary Fire and Healing Bubble
Like Scarlet Witch, both Cloak and Dagger's primary fire have an auto-lock feature that counters Spider-Man's mobility with ease. While Dagger can hit Spider-Man from further away with her less-damaging daggers. Meanwhile, Cloak can deal more damage with his lesser-ranged 'beam' move that slowly drains health.
Marvel Rivals: 7 Tips for Playing Strategist
If players want to maximize their healing and damage to become the true MVP Strategist in Marvel Rivals, then these tips might be of some help.
Another counter within Cloak and Dagger's kit is Dagger's healing bubble, which heals too fast for Spider-Man's combos to achieve a KO on the Strategists. This healing bubble can also be used on other 'squishy' allies to prevent Spider-Man from harming them.
2 Hela
Hitscan Primary Fire and Stun Ability
Hela is an incredible Duelist in Marvel Rivals who has been regarded as one of the best DPS characters in the game. With her hitscan primary fire, immense damage, and escape tools, Hela can directly focus on Spider-Man to ensure he's unable to prove useful to his team.
In just a few hits, Hela can KO Spider-Man with her primary fire; the hitscan makes it much easier to land hits on a swinging Spider-Man. Hela also has a stun ability that, when launched, pulls in an enemy and stuns them for a short time. This utility move is a significant way for Hela to KO Spider-Man swiftly.
1 Namor
Auto-Lock Turrets
When the opposing team has a Lord Spider-Man that has proved essential, it comes as no surprise when Namor gets brought out to counter him. Namor is the best way to counter Spider-Man, as his turrets make Spider-Man's life much more difficult. With Namor's oceanic-creature turrets that auto-lock onto enemies, Spider-Man is unable to swing around and attack, since the turrets are either knocking him out or damaging him enough to where he must swing away.
Namor's primary fire has lots of damage potential as well, which is a notable way of finishing Spider-Man off after two or three turret shots have landed. Even after Spider-Man decides to solely target Namor, Namor can use his ability to fly in a protective bubble to stop Spider-Man from dealing any more damage to him, gain heals from allies, and buy time for his turrets to land some shots on Spider-Man.
