Marvel Rivals is just around the corner, and is likely to resonate with many fans of the wider Marvel Multiverse. Thanks to a relatively vocal development cycle, the release of Marvel Rivals has become somewhat of an end-of-year event. However, it won't be alone in the holiday season thanks to some support from an existing Marvel game.
When it comes to obscure corners of Marvel, few properties reach further than Marvel Snap. For more than two years now, Marvel Snap has tracked with other major happenings in the franchise, and continued to host events which release cards relevant to the time. With this in mind, Marvel Snap releasing a season based around the launch of Marvel Rivals always felt like a no-brainer, and with it confirmed, it's clear that the game is going to draw a lot of attention come December 2024.

Marvel Rivals Faces Huge Expectation
Marvel Rivals is currently set to launch in early December. Although some details are not yet set in stone, the game has worked to land in the good graces of many players. Among other promises, perhaps the most promising feature advertised about Marvel RIvals is its ability to host its entire launch roster for free from day one. This and many other features could be difficult to nail down, but doing so will give Marvel Rivals a bump to its reputation from the very beginning.
If Marvel Rivals sticks the landing, and becomes the game many players feel they have signed up for, it will be a notable win for Marvel fans in the gaming space. However, the stakes don't stop and end with the success of Marvel Rivals. In fact, Marvel Rivals remains only one half of this picture. On the other hand, a future Marvel Snap event is poised to make just as much of a splash during the winter season.
Marvel Snap Needs to Strike the Iron While Its Hot
Marvel Snap has officially confirmed a tie-in with the release of Marvel Rivals, with said event rumored for quite some time. At a glance, it's difficult to conceptualize what shape this might take. After all, much of Marvel Snap's appeal is found in the release of new cards, and nearly every character on the Marvel Rivals roster is already in the game. Still, there is plenty of material that Marvel Snap can easily farm for cosmetic Variants and the like, which puts the ball firmly back in the other game's court. Regardless, using the fan base of one game to cross-promote with the other seems like far too good of an opportunity to pass up.
Marvel Rivals and Marvel Snap Crossover Has a Lot of Potential
Barring any major shift, Marvel Rivals' December release date is set in stone, as is the crossover between Marvel Rivals and Marvel Snap. As for why December is so exciting for Marvel fans, there's the simple fact that Marvel fans would be met with two major releases in the same month. This is something that most players would never willingly turn down, and the deal is especially sweet thanks to the nature of both games. Although Marvel Rivals and Marvel Snap are completely different games, a shared affinity for the live service format would ensure that both titles mutually benefit from any kind of crossover material. One can also be played on console and the other on mobile devices, meaning that players can participate in one of the events regardless of where they are, swapping between whenever they need to do so.
One can assume a few things about what this crossover may look like, too. Cards, avatars, and so-on in Marvel Snap could boast the character designs from Marvel Rivals, and locations could pay homage to Rivals' abilities. It's more difficult to imagine how Marvel Rivals might return the favor, but that doesn't make it impossible, as things like XP and currency could be awarded for participating, or even a skin for one of the game's heroes covered in Snap logos. Ultimately, closing out the year with an event dedicated to a mutual celebration will be a huge win for Marvel games.
