Super Mario Bros. Wonder introduced Mario fans to a brand-new mechanic: Standees. Online features incentivize players to help out others in the community, even if they're not necessarily playing together. In Super Mario Bros. Wonder, gamers can touch a ghost player to bring them back to life, or they can place Standees near tricky areas to ensure a nearby spawn location if the other player meets their demise.

Changing characters in Super Mario Bros. Wonder is pretty straightforward, but the game never really goes out of its way to explain how to do it.

This guide will tell fans everything they need to know about Standees in Super Mario. Bros Wonder, including how to place them, how to unlock more Standees, and how to change them.

How to Place a Standee

Gamers can place Standees at any time in Super Mario Bros. Wonder; they only need to crouch and press Y or X (depending on control preferences) to put it down.

Once players put down a Standee, their previous one will be replaced.

Even though it's possible to place a Standee while offline, it's only worth it when the player is connected to the internet; gamers around the world can interact with the Standee and use it as a returning point if they're KO'd while playing a course.

How to Get Different Standees

In total, there are 144 Standees in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. There are 12 playable characters in the game, and each character has its own set of Standees; there are 12 Standee pose variations, and gamers must unlock them for all characters if they'd like to unlock all different Standees.

When fans start the game, they'll have access to each character's Jumping Standee, but they'll have to unlock all the other ones by themselves. To get the remaining 132 Standees in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, gamers must purchase the Standee Surprise item at one of Poplin's Shops. This item only costs 10 Flower Coins, and it contains a random Standee inside.

In order to acquire all available Standees, players will have to obtain quite a lot of Flower Coins, as they'll need at least a total of 1,320 Flower Coins to unlock the entire Super Mario Bros. Wonder Standee collection. This number might be a lot higher since it's likely that players will get the same Standee several times from a Standee Surprise.

Players can check out their Standee collection by opening the Main Menu and selecting Standees.

How to Change Standees

Even though gamers might prefer a certain Standee, it's not possible to choose which Standee will appear when they place it while playing a course, so players can't actually manually change it.

Standees will rotate randomly as gamers use them. For example, if they're playing as Nabbit, a random Nabbit Standee will be chosen each time the player places a Standee. Gamers who want to see more variety should attempt to collect all available Standees.

This guide will be updated in the near future with a list of all Standees available in Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
