Ubisoft's Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle offers a slew of fun firefights in the vein of turn-based strategies like XCOM. This Mario crossover serves as a more colorful, family-friendly take on that formula. Like its celestial successor Sparks of Hope, however, it can sometimes be tough using the right strategies and overcoming the distinct Rabbid foes.
The final showdown with Mario's arch nemesis, taking the form of "MegaDragonBowser," can be particularly tricky if players aren't prepared. This guide will serve as a blueprint that covers the major details of Rabbids + Mario Kingdom Battle's epic end boss, highlighting tips, tactics, and procedures to emerge victorious.
Preparation - Best Team And Attacks To Use
- Suggested characters: Princess Peach/Rabbid Peach (for survivability and healing), Luigi (high damage output at range and mobility).
- It can be useful to equip weapons that come with bonus push or bounce chance, as these can be useful against the Valkyries.
- Invest in the best gear possible and be sure to allocate all Power Orbs.
- Take advantage of Hero Sight with Mario (and Steely Stare with Luigi), as it has them automatically fire at a target during an enemy's turn. This is useful against Bowser's minions and effectively works as an extra attack.
- Use sentries when possible to distract and deal with Bowser's minions.
Players may want to optimize their team by re-specing their characters towards powering up their abilities, rather than directing these resources to mobility (slide and jump moves). Focus on special abilities, and Mario's M-Power (which should be fully upgraded). If using Luigi, utilize the combo with his Steely Stare (also fully upgraded). Together, these can make a major impact offensively.
MegaDragonBowser Battle - Overview And Strategies
- Found in: World 4-9, chapter eight, Bowser's Castle
- Enemies in the fight: MegaDragonBowser. Phase one - Lava Valkyrie (4). Phase two - Lava Buckler (4). Phase 3 - Lava Smasher (4).
This battle is unique in that there are three distinct phases to the fight, the first of which is actually the toughest to overcome. Players will want to focus on Bowser's minions first during the initial phase, as they are the toughest.

Magnet Dance (Draws opponents) |
Phase One
-
Focus on picking off the Valkyries first. Utilize the M-Power, as well as explosives to deal damage to multiple Valkyrie targets at once.
- Once the Valkyries are defeated, then focus on Bowser.
- Bowser will hover and hang around the middle of the map.
- For his first turn, Bowser will focus his attack on just one team member.
-
He will become airborne and attack a single character with fireballs shot from his hand (akin to Rumblebangs).
- Keep in mind, these shots destroy Mega Blocks and inflict burn on those in its path. Bowser has the ability to destroy all cover sports, even unbreakable ones. Be sure to utilize barriers, shields, and other protection at hand.
- He will utilize a line-of-sight move that will trigger him shooting at any character that moves between his turns.
- He will draw characters closer to him with a magnet skill (akin to Rabbid Mario's Magnet Dance).
-
He will use an area-of-effect ground stomp move.
- It's best to stay spread out and keep a distance as much as possible.
-
Bowser uses an overwatch ability, illustrated by glowing fire beneath his feet.
- Players can utilize the toy car to lead the overwatch fire to the car rather than a player.
Phase Two
-
Bowser will heal completely and conjure airborne fireball blasts, dealing 20 HP damage as well as inflicting burn.
- Players will want to avoid the scorched blackened areas on the map, as they'll be hit with Burn Super Effects that cause burn damage.
- Bowser's attacks are a degree easier to avoid at this stage.
-
Instead of staying around the center, Bowser will now move about the perimeter of the arena and call forth a squad of four Bucklers around the middle portion.
- These bothersome Bucklers will use guard to protect Bowser and absorb some of his damage. Additionally, Bowser will return the favor by using a protection technique to reduce some damage to the Bucklers while taking a bit of damage himself.
- Focus on one Buckler at a time, and move around the outskirts as you hone in on them.
- Be sure to keep at a moderate distance, as their shotguns are not nearly as effective from range.
- Players can attack Bowser with line-of-sight abilities as he flies around the arena.
Phase Three
-
For the third and final portion of this fight, Bowser falls back to ground level, becoming more offensive and less passive, as well as restoring all his HP once again.
- He is again hittable with line-of-sight attacks while moving.
-
He will use his melee smash, and four Lava Smashers will spawn all around him.
- There's no need to focus on the Smashers nearly as much as the minions of the first phase. Simply focus on finishing Bowser.
-
He will use the shell-spinning move Whirling Fortress, which fans of Super Smash Bros. May also recognize. With this move, Bowser spins around in the air, dealing major damage to those in his path. He will also breathe flames during this time.
- Bowser will always retreat back to the center region before spinning.
-
He will also shield himself when it's the player's turn. At this point, players will need to coax Bowser into spinning toward the metal blocks around the map, clashing with them. This will cause the block to shatter, stunning the now-vulnerable boss in the process (for a single turn). Concentrate all fire on him at this point.
- Bowser can be lured into these metal blocks by moving the team towards them, and covering behind them.
- It's best to continue focusing on the Smashers if they're still alive, but this move will at least subdue the aggressive Bowser for a bit while doing so.
- Keep in mind: if a KO'ed player resides in the center of the map before the 3rd phase starts, MegaDragonBowser will be stuck and shield indefinitely. This unfortunately makes the fight unwinnable.
Rewards
