Just before officially launching alongside the Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World has received a version 1.1.0 update which adds camera support, LAN and online capabilities, and changes to the new Free Roam mode. Mario Kart World will be the latest entry in the beloved Mario Kart franchise, and some players who snagged their Switch 2 consoles and copies of the game early have already started downloading this surprise patch.

As noted by Nintendo Everything, the Mario Kart World 1.1.0 Update includes a number of helpful features, including camera and online support, as well as some more surprising changes. The new Free Roam mode in Mario Kart World received a slight adjustment with nearby player icons being displayed, and Time Attack got a patch for "ghosts" to be uploaded and downloaded. Perhaps the most unexpected updates were the added ability to play online, something fans may have been expecting to already be included in the base game, and the inclusion of LAN Play, which can be activated from the title screen. Other key multiplayer changes included in the 1.1.0 patch focus on "improved operability" when more than three users are playing in "Everyone" mode and the removal of a course selection timer for LAN and Local sessions.

Additional improvements in the 1.1.0 update provide support for the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera and more early-game selectable characters in Mario Kart World. Some players have voiced shock at a "Day 0" patch being released by Nintendo, though many are happy to see the game already getting key improvements. Whether more updates will be coming after Mario Kart World fully launches remains to be seen, so interested players may want to stay tuned for any news on potential future patches.

With many players counting down the hours and minutes until they can experience the new content in Mario Kart World, it should not come as too much of a shock that Nintendo is wanting to ensure the game's launch goes as smoothly as possible. While the pre-release patch may be unexpected, the crucial enhancements aim to ensure everyone can enjoy Mario Kart World once it releases with the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5.
