The Mario Kart Switch 2 trailer seems to confirm at least 22 of the characters that will be featured on the game's roster. A new Mario Kart is the first game Nintendo has confirmed for the Switch 2, though it was shown only briefly during the console's announcement trailer. Since the announcement, fans have been analyzing the Mario Kart Switch 2 trailer for potential clues about what the new game will bring to the table.
Fans have already figured out quite a few interesting details about the new Mario Kart game based on the Switch 2 reveal trailer. One of the most notable is that it seems as though Mario Kart on Switch 2 will support 24-player races. The race on display in the Switch 2 reveal trailer seems to be one of these 24-player races, and while not all the racers can be clearly made out, at least 22 have been discovered so far.
Mario Kart Switch 2 Game Has Rosalina Driving a Unique Vehicle
Although the new footage shared of Mario Kart for the Nintendo Switch 2 is brief, players have noticed an interesting detail about Rosalina's kart.
Based on my own observations and convincing screens shared by Bluesky user Sylverstone Khandr, it seems the Switch 2 reveal trailer confirms at least 22 racers for the new Mario Kart game. Not all the racers can be seen 100% clearly, and so it's possible some of these are off, but it looks like Baby Daisy, Baby Luigi, Baby Mario, Baby Peach, Bowser, Bowser Jr., Daisy, Donkey Kong, King Boo, Koopa Troopa, Luigi, Mario, Pauline, Peach, Rosalina, Shy Guy, Toad, Toadette, Waluigi, Wario, and Yoshi are all on deck for the new Mario Kart on Switch 2.
Alrighty, my eyes hurt less, and I took another closer look at best as I could. This is the best I could scrimp together on findings. #MarioKart #NintendoSwitch2 — Sylverstone Khandr ✨ (@sylverstonekhandr.com) 2025-01-16T15:35:10.670Z

Since Mario Kart on Switch 2 seemingly supports 24-player races, one has to imagine that there are at least two more racers that can be seen in the footage. The claim has been made that there are a couple of Koopalings in the trailer, but I haven't been able to spot them myself. Hopefully, a clearer trailer for the new Mario Kart will clue fans in on who else might be making an appearance in the new racing game.
Unfortunately, it may be a few months before fans get more details on the new Mario Kart. Nintendo has confirmed that a Nintendo Direct will take place on April 2, where it will fully pull the curtain back on the Switch 2. Presumably, Mario Kart will be a launch title for the device and will have a significant presence at the event, but time will tell on that front.
