Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Unlockables Guide

As an updated re-release, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe comes with a lot of content available at the start, but there are still a few hidden unlockables.

With so many different cups and character/vehicle combinations, you might be one of those hardcore fans who wants to unlock every possible driver to try them all out. While some characters are unlocked by playing the game and finishing first in certain cups, others have additional requirements, and unfortunately, they aren't free. Here's how to unlock Peachette in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

How To Get Peachette

Peachette is one of those characters that you unfortunately can't unlock simply by using your superior Mario Kart 8 Deluxe drifting skills, as she's part of the Booster Course Pass DLC that was released several years after the base game first came out.

Peachette is included along with 48 new courses, and other characters, such as Birdo, Kamek, Petey Piranha, Wiggler, Funky Kong, Diddy Kong and Pauline. Considering all the additional content that comes with the DLC, its price tag of $24.99 might not seem too steep, but if you take into account that the base game already costs $59.99, the equation changes. Especially if you're only looking to unlock Peachette.

If you share the thoughts of many other Nintendo Switch owners around the world and aren't willing to pay an extra $24.99 for a single game, even if there's a ton of new content involved, there's good news. Players who have a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack Membership (which goes for $49.99/year) can get "free" access to the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass.

The upside to subscribing to this membership, is that for just under $50, you can not only get Peachette and the new courses in the game, but also access many vintage games from the Sega Genesis, Game Boy Advance, and the Nintendo 64, as well as DLCs from other games, such as Animal Crossing, and Splatoon 2.

All in all, players interested in unlocking Peachette will unfortunately have to spend money one way or another. Whether it is through purchasing the standalone DLC or subscribing to a Nintendo membership. Whatever the case, it's undeniable that the money will be well worth it, as it will also unlock new tracks and a whole new world to play casually or competitively.
