During the February 2022 Nintendo Direct presentation, it was announced that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe would be getting paid DLC in the form of the Booster Course Pass. The paid DLC goes for $24.99 and doubles the number of courses in the game. However, Switch owners subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online and have an Expansion Pass membership can play the Booster Course Pass DLC for no extra charge as each wave of content gets released this year, and in 2023.

The paid content will roll out in six waves, with each one bringing two cups (eight tracks) to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The tracks will all be remastered versions from previous Mario Kart titles, with the first wave releasing on March 18, 2022. It will include the Golden Dash and Lucky Cat Cups, which come with the following courses: Paris Promenade (Tour), Toad Circuit (3DS), Choco Mountain (N64), Coconut Mall (Wii), Tokyo Blur (Tour), Shroom Ridge (DS), Sky Garden (GBA), and Ninja Hideaway (Tour).

The official Australian Nintendo website lists the release time for the DLC to be March 18, 10 am AEDT. If Nintendo is doing a global release, then the expected release times for people in the US (and other parts of the world) are as follows:

  • 11 PM UTC/GMT on March 17 (London, Dublin)
  • 7 PM ET on March 17 (New York City, Miami)
  • 6 PM CT on March 17 (Chicago)
  • 5 PM MT on March 17 (Denver)
  • 4 PM PT on March 17 (Los Angeles, Seattle)
  • 8 AM JST on March 18 (Tokyo)

Switch owners can already download the latest update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to add the new courses to their game; however, the new cups will not be able to be played until the Booster Course Pass is officially released to the public.
