What To Expect When Exploring Valley IV

After you've successfully made it through the incredible opening sequence, you'll soon find yourself dropped straight into a crisis that is overwhelming the entirety of Valley IV. Alongside the reliable Perlica, you'll learn the basics to combat, exploration, and managing your factory. But it will require you to complete a few missions before you'll actually gain access to the map.

Once you have the map, you'll find that most of it is still covered in fog and there are also additional regions to unlock beyond the starting area. In addition, there are a variety of puzzles and obstacles that you'll need to plan around if you want to find every important resource and collectible. Here's are the main things you'll want to be aware of as you're exploring:

Unlocking the Map

In order to clear the fog and fully unlock the map, you'll need to activate every TP Point. These serve as your fast travel nodes and are where you'll let your team rest and recover health in between battles. In addition, TP Points are a great way to get some easy XP as you are exploring, so make sure to prioritize them.

To reach the other areas of the map, you'll need to progress through the main story quests. There are also specific Authority Levels required in order to proceed to new areas, so don't neglect doing the various activities and collecting resources so you can level up fast.

Relay Towers and Electric Pylons

As you're exploring outside the Core AIC Area, you'll run into a number of electric gates that require you to connect a power supply in order to proceed. In addition, any Facilities that you want to build outside the Core AIC Area will also require their own power. This is where Relay Towers and Electric Pylons come in handy.

Starting from the Core AIC tower, you'll want to create a daisy chain of Relay Towers across the map. This will serve as your power source, allowing you to easily connect to an Electric Nexus and open those locked doors or electric gates. And when you want to set up a mining rig or zipline, you can connect the Relay Tower to an Electric Pylon to power the devices.

Ore Harvesting

You'll frequently come across raw ore that can be harvested by simply breaking it with your weapon. While this can be useful in the very beginning, you'll want to focus instead on setting up mining rigs at the various mineral beds. This will ensure you have a steady supply of basic resources that can be used to craft just about anything in the game.

Initially, you'll need to remember to go back to each of the mining rigs and collect the ore. But as you unlock more advanced rigs, that ore will be sent directly to the depot, allowing instant access at all of your factories.
