For some players, optimizing settlements in Manor Lords goes beyond just productivity and efficiency — it’s also a matter of aesthetic. A premeditated layout is necessary to meet the inevitable challenges of settlement expansion. But when creativity starts taking center stage, players may put greater thought into settlement planning and structure placement.
This is when most players ponder the possibility of rotating structures, giving them greater freedom when planning out their settlement. While the in-game tutorial highlights the ability to rotate structures, the tutorial itself isn’t informative enough. Players struggling to figure out how to rotate buildings in Manor Lords will find this guide helpful.

Players will run out of land fast when expanding their settlement in Manor Lords. Here's what they need to do to remove the trees blocking the way.
Rotating Buildings Vs Burgage Plots
Not all structures follow the same system of rotation in Manor Lords. For instance, Burgage Plots are rotated after drawing their outlines. On the other hand, structures like Sawpits and Logging Camps are rotated while placing them.
Why Rotate Structures?
There are a couple of reasons why players might want to rotate builds in Manor Lords:
- Placement Efficiency: The ability to rotate structures to even a smaller degree allows for thousands of unique, non-conventional designs. Structures that don’t necessarily fit in a constrained space may end up fitting when rotated. This allows players to think outside the box when planning their settlement with the predefined region allotted when starting a new game.
- Precise Planning & Aesthetics: A well-planned settlement enables players to dedicate specific areas for living, animal husbandry, and industry proliferation. Rotating buildings lets players create visually appealing designs where structures face in a specific direction or align with adjacent roads.

How To Rotate Burgage Plots
Rotating burgage plots is different from rotating other structures. To effectively rotate a burgage plot, players can follow the detailed steps listed below:
- Use the tool tip to select Burgage Plot from the "Construction" menu.
- Using the same tool tip, draw the area for burgage construction.
- Connect all four quadrants of the Burgage Plot before clicking the curved arrow to rotate the plot.
- Once the desired rotation is achieved, click the brown hammer icon to order the plot’s construction.
Unlike other structures, Burgage Plots can only rotate in the four cardinal directions (north, east, south, and west).
