On social media, US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), also known as AOC, announced that she would return to Twitch to face vice presidential candidate Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) in Madden NFL 25. The games will be broadcast on AOC's Twitch channel on October 27, just nine days before Election Day in the US.
The Madden NFL stream between AOC and Gov. Walz will be held days after another Democratic Party figure was featured on the Amazon-owned service. On October 22, US Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT) joined popular content creators like Valkyrae, Sykkuno, Pokimane, and celebrities Mark Hamill and Mark Cuban for a Twitch broadcast to discuss some of the prevalent issues surrounding the 2024 presidential campaign. During the Twitch stream, Sen. Sanders brought up topics such as women's rights, climate change, and making healthcare and higher education more affordable across the country.
Although AOC has formally endorsed US Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. Walz in their 2024 presidential bid, the New York representative will face the Minnesota governor in a different arena. AOC will return to Twitch for the first time since 2023 to face Gov. Walz in Madden NFL 25. The stream will take place on AOC's Twitch channel, on Sunday, October 27, at 3:00 PM Eastern. The announcement was revealed by AOC on social media with two posters to advertise the event. Although the stream will begin while some NFL games are in progress, Walz and AOC will likely use the broadcast to discuss presidential campaign topics and reach out to US voters ahead of Election Day. Early voting has already begun in some states, including New York and Minnesota, where AOC and Walz respectively hail from.
AOC Takes On Gov. Tim Walz In Madden NFL 25
While AOC is known for playing games such as Among Us and League of Legends, Gov. Walz is no stranger to video games and football. Before his time in politics, Walz was a high school defensive coordinator at Mankato West High School in Minnesota, where he helped lead the Scarlets to a state championship in 1999. As for gaming, Walz once owned a Sega Dreamcast and a copy of Crazy Taxi before giving it away in 2007 during his time as a US House Representative. Only time will tell if Walz's coaching experience will pay off in his matches against AOC.
Previous Twitch streams hosted by AOC have drawn high viewer counts in the past, including her 2020 Among Us broadcast. Which issues the two Democratic Party members will bring up ahead of Election Day remains to be seen.
