Your playbook in Madden 26 determines how your players line up and where they move once the ball is snapped. It's an incredibly important part of the game on both sides of the ball, and having a varied playbook with plays that keep your opponent guessing and make the most of your players' abilities will make scoring touchdowns and shutting down the opposing team's offense much easier. In Franchise mode, Ultimate Team, and Quick Play, the game will automatically select a playbook for you. However, it is possible to change playbook in Madden 26 to another team's (or a custom one) if you'd prefer.
How to Relocate Team in Madden 26 Franchise Mode
Madden 26's Franchise mode gives you complete control over your team, so if you want to relocate it, you can. Here's how to do exactly that.
How to Change Playbooks in Madden 26 Quick Play
If you're looking to change the playbook you're using in a quick match against the AI or a friend, go to 'Settings' from the main menu and, under the first tab, 'Game Options,' you'll find options for both the Offensive and Defensive Playbook. Select either of these and then cycle through them to find the playbook of the team/ coach that you want to be the default when going into the game.
By default, these are set to be Team Specific. This is the best option for newcomers who want to remain competitive. However, tacticians or people wanting to experiment with teams and playbooks may want to try playing with their favorite team and using the tactics of another.
How to Change Playbooks in Ultimate Team
Changing playbook in Ultimate Team works a little differently, as you'll need to have the card of the team's playbook that you want to use. By default, your MUT playbook will be that of the 'favorite team' you selected when first loading up Madden 26. However, if you want a different playbook, you need to get the card by either getting it in a pack or purchasing it from the Auction House. Keep in mind that you'll need MUT coins if you want to purchase one from the Auction House.
Once you've got the card of the playbook you want to use, you then need to equip it. This is done by going to 'My Team' from the main menu of Ultimate Team and then selecting 'Lineup.'
From here, go to the 'Playbooks and Visuals' tab. On this screen, you'll then see 'Offense' and 'Playbook 2' as two options on the top row next to your Head Coach. Select the playbook that you want to change and then choose the card of the one you want to replace it with.
'Playbook 2' refers to your defensive playbook, which is used for the defensive formations your team will line up with.
How to Change Playbooks in Franchise Mode
To change playbooks in Franchise mode, go to 'Manage Team' from the 'Home' menu, and then select 'Team Schemes.' Here, you'll find both the 'Offensive Playbook' and 'Defensive Playbook' options where you can cycle through all 32 teams' playbooks. Once you're happy with your decisions, back out of this menu, and your choices will be saved.
Changing your playbook in Franchise mode can be particularly useful if you've done a fantasy draft, as your team's attributes may be completely different from the one the original playbook was built around. As such, another team's playbook may suit your team better now.
Custom playbooks can only be selected in Franchise mode by selecting 'Advanced Settings' after choosing the 'Play Full Game' option. Every team's playbooks will appear here again, but any custom playbooks you've made or downloaded will also appear. This needs to be set before every game.
