Lorelei and the Laser Eyes: How to Unlock the Front Gate

As players approach the Hotel Letztes Jahre, they will find that their path is blocked by a front gate that they are instructed to unlock. To unlock the front gate, fans of puzzle games must enter the nearby gatehouse and solve the electrical cabinet puzzle that is inside. The following two sections detail exactly how that is done.

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes: How to Unlock the Gatehouse

Players can find the entrance to the gatehouse just left of the front gate, and they should set the padlock's combination to 1963 before interacting with its shackle.

The "Unsigned Letter Carried by Dog," which can be obtained from the dog that appears to the right of the front gate, instructs players to find the year. The "Letter Signed by R. Nero, December 13, 1962," which is found inside the car's glove compartment, is dated 1962, and it indicates that the player character is to arrive "next year" (1963).

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes: How to Unlock the Electrical Cabinet & Solve Dial Puzzle

After entering the gatehouse, players should collect the Byte Seyes Gaming System from the top of the shelf in the bottom-right corner of the room and use the computer to make a save. Fans of indie video games should then interact with the electrical cabinet on the wall to the right of the computer, set the padlock's combination to 1847, and press the shackle.

The "Letter Signed R. Nero" on the pin board to the left of the computer references "116 years back in time." Subtracting 116 from the current year (1963) gives 1847.

Opening the electrical cabinet reveals a dial puzzle, which players must now solve. While this Lorelei and the Laser Eyes puzzle is randomized, the goal is always to set the dials and switch to numbers that add up to 2014. Usually, that can be accomplished by following these steps:

Set the dials to numbers that equal 19XX when added.
Subtract that sum from 2014, and flip the switch to the difference.
Press the button above 2014.

The mathematical symbols that appear at the top of this puzzle indicate that the values that are selected with the dials and switch will be added, and that their sum should equal 2014.

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes: Code of the Entrance Keypad

Players are now free to enter the front yard and approach the Hotel Letztes Jahre's front door. There is a keypad to the right of that door, and fans of mystery games should input 1847 to gain access to the hotel.

The dots of red paint on the keypad are the key to solving this puzzle. More specifically, players will find that there is one dot on "1," two dots on "8," three dots on "4," and four dots on "7," and following that sequence creates the correct code.
