It’s not uncommon to find Blacksmiths in soulslike games and Lords of the Fallen is no different. Gerlinde however, won’t welcome new Lords of the Fallen players once they reach Skyrest Bridge as she’s imprisoned in Pilgrim’s Perch.
Freeing the Blacksmith isn’t that difficult but finding her is kind of tricky. Releasing Gerlinde from her cage will unlock her as a Blacksmith who upgrades weapons in Lords of the Fallen which will strengthen players’ weapons and catalysts.
Lords of the Fallen: All Stats Explained
Each stat has a meaning as it upgrade certain abilities to make the journey easier in Lords of the Fallen.
Blacksmith Location In Lords Of The Fallen
Gerlinde the Blacksmith is locked away in a cell inside a cave in Pilgrim’s Perch. To save the Blacksmith in Lords of the Fallen, Warp to the Bellroom Vestige Point and head right to go through a tunnel full of beams. Defeat the cleric enemies at the end and then turn left across the wooden plank.
Get out of the room full of crates and climb the stairs to reach a rotating wooden platform. Wait for it to face the correct way and jump on the platform quickly. Hop to the other side and run to the end of the long wooden platform. Avoid or defeat the large enemy in Lords of the Fallen then use the stairs to glide down.
Immediately to the right, there’s another ladder with moths flying around it. This is a sign that the lampbearers should use the Umbral Lamp to travel to the world of the dead. Upon traveling to Umbral, use the ladder to go down and run straight ahead, ignoring all enemies if desired.
Go to the top by climbing two ladders and walk across the white narrow bridge to interact with the Emergence Effigies. Once players are back in the Axiom Realm, hop down to the right and defeat the three enemies before going down another ladder.
On the current platform, there is an Umbral entity that’s blocking players from proceeding. It’s advised to defeat all nearby enemies as players need to search thoroughly for some Soulflay Obstacles in the Umbral Realm. Keep in mind that enemies will keep spawning the longer lampbearers are in the world of the dead in addition to the already existing enemies.
Return to the Umbral Realm and follow the blue roots to find the required Soulflay Obstacles. The first one is found by heading down the bone bridge all the way to the end where there are a bunch of enemies. Look down and remove the tormented obstacle that’s sticking out of the broken shack.
Return to the Umbral entity and climb the white slope found left to remove the second Soulflay Obstacle. The last one is probably the easiest as it’s located on the right side of the entity, near the top of the hill.
Once all three are removed, deal with the final Soulflay Obstacle that's blocking the entrance to the cave and head inside. Go down two ladders until an elevator appears to the left. Go down one final ladder to find Gerlinde’s cell surrounded by enemies.
How To Free The Blacksmith In Lords Of The Fallen
To free the Blacksmith in Lords of the Fallen, players must defeat the large knight guarding the cell. He is accompanied by a couple of hounds, so make sure to take care of them before attempting to fight him. Upon killing the opponent, use the recently acquired Prison Cell Key to free Gerlinde from her cell.
Reloading the area by resting at any Vestige Points in Lords of the Fallen, will allow the Blacksmith to move to the Skyrest Bridge. She can be found in the upper room across Molhu’s room. Now that Gerlinde is safe and sound, lampbearers can finally collect the required materials to upgrade their weapons in Lords of the Fallen.
Lords of the Fallen is out on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
