As a result, succeeding in the game would be impossible without Ratbag's wealth of behind-the-scenes knowledge, as knowledge is indeed power.

The twin sons of Elrond, Elladan, and Elrohir, are not unique characters in the War in the North video game. These two elves are mentioned in the books but do not get much character development, and they were completely omitted from the movies. Therefore, it was great to see these two get a spotlight moment in this game.
In a story that takes place at the same time as the events in The Lord of the Rings, War in the North sees a trio of an elf, a dwarf, and a man trying to fight one of Sauron's servants as they try to establish a fortress in the northern part of Middle Earth. The main characters are helped by many allies on their journey, but few are as powerful as Elladan and Elrohir. These twins are the heirs to the land of Rivendell, and so are highly skilled in combat and magic to help protect their realm from all kinds of evil in Middle-Earth.

The Third Age is an RPG set in Middle Earth, and its story runs parallel to that of the characters of The Lord of the Rings. The player takes control of a Gondorian man, named Berethor, as he travels across Middle Earth assembling a team who end up helping fight in the War of the Ring. The first companion that Berethor encounters in the game is an elf woman, called Idrial, and she is a powerful mage that players can use in the turn-based combat of the game.
Idrial is almost a must-include character for the game. Her powerful attacks are great for small encounters with orcs, but her ability to use healing magic is essential when it comes to big boss fights, like the one against the Balrog in Moria.

The giant eagles in Middle Earth are well-known to most fans of the fantasy realm created by Tolkien, as they have a big part to play in both The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. In War in the North, the player characters will encounter one of these great eagles when they rescue them from a group of goblins.
To thank the good players for their help, this great eagle, Beleram, aids the players in their attempt to rid the north of Sauron's armies. Beleram is not only a powerful creature who can take out engines with his bare talons, but he is also wise, offering the player plenty of information about Middle Earth, and the movements of the enemy.

Starting out as a ranger of Gondor, Talion is sadly killed by Sauron's forces when he is posted to Mordor's Black Gate. Fortunately, Talion is revived by the wraith spirit of Celebrimbor, and together they fight to take over Mordor and its forces to thwart Sauron's Black Hand.

Agandaur is the main villain and final boss of War in the North, and he more than earns that role. As a Black Numenorean, this evil sorcerer is one of Sauron's most loyal lieutenants, which is why he is tasked with retaking Angmar and the rest of the northern kingdoms during the War of the Ring.
Players will find that Agandaur's combat skills and magical abilities already make him a powerful enemy. However, it is his way of rallying the orcs and other servants of Sauron that makes this character a real threat. It is only due to Frodo destroying the One Ring in time that sees Agandaur finally vanish from Middle Earth at the end of the game.
