PEAK has received its first major update, introducing a new Biome called Mesa, and a bunch of new accolades/badges for players to acquire. One of the new badges to aim for asks players to "Look Closely at the Blazing Sun." While the instructions are straightforward, players can only attempt to unlock this badge under certain conditions and with certain tools. Here's how you can unlock the Astronomy badge in PEAK.
PEAK: All Biomes & How To Survive Every Level
There are five biomes PEAK players can explore as they ascend to the top of the island, each of which features new terrain and hazards to avoid.
How to 'Look Closely at the Blazing Sun' in PEAK (Unlock Astronomy Badge)
To complete the "look closely at the blazing sun," players will first need to reach the Mesa biome in PEAK. For the first week of launch, the third biome is locked to Mesa to allow players to experience the new content, and map rotations will resume after. So, it'll be easier for players to complete this objective and unlock the Astronomy badge.
Before you venture towards the Mesa biome, you'll need to have binoculars in your inventory. Once you reach Mesa, you'll notice that the sun will burn your character, causing burn buildup. You'll have to find a shady area to stand in and equip the binoculars. Once the sun is out of the clouds, use binoculars to gaze upon the blazing sun. This will unlock the Astronomy badge, and an achievement notification should pop up as well.
If the Astronomy badge achievement does not pop up, make sure to use the zoom feature on the binoculars until it does.
Where to Find Binoculars in PEAK
Binoculars are one of the most important scouting tools that players should have in their inventory to spot scalable routes in PEAK. Apart from being useful tools, they're also required to unlock the new Astronomy badge achievement, and you can get your hands on them pretty easily.
One of the best locations to grab binoculars is near the crash site on the shore, the starting area. You'll find the binoculars lying near the debris of the crashed airplane, usually towards the right of the back compartment. There's a chance you may not find the binoculars in this location, so it's best to keep an eye out for luggage scattered around the biomes to find one.
