Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP producer Yoshimi Yasuda has revealed the number of costumes available in the upcoming remaster, with 30 in total and over 200 different variations. Yasuda has provided fans with a number of details regarding the upcoming remaster of the cult classic comedy horror zombie hack-and-slash game. Dragami Games has stated that Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is slated for a Summer 2024 release, meaning fans likely won't be waiting long before they get the chance to play it.
One of the reasons why Lollipop Chainsaw is a cult classic is its premise, born from the collaborative efforts of esteemed Grasshopper Manufacture game director Suda51 and Hollywood film director James Gunn. In Lollipop Chainsaw, 18-year-old cheerleader Juliet Starling sees her high school being attacked by waves of zombies. Players then use Juliet's chainsaw and combat prowess to mow down the undead, looking to save the world before her birthday celebration. While Juliet is most recognizable in her San Romero Knights cheerleader uniform, players can also wear a number of different alternate costumes. Many of these outfits will be in the remaster, according to Yasuda.
Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Producer Has Good News For Fans
The producer of the upcoming Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP remaster has some good news for fans anticipating its Summer 2024 release.
In a new tweet posted to Yasuda's account, he reveals that Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP will have a total of 30 costumes, which include the original versions and brand-new ones made for the remaster. Not only that, players will be able to change Juliet Starling's hair color and chainsaws, with four of each option. With all of these customization options, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP will essentially have 480 different looks for Juliet Starling that players can choose between in total.
Costume Options in Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP
- 30 Costumes (Both Original and New Costumes)
- 4 New Hair Colors for Juliet
- 4 New Chainsaws
- 480 Costume Variations Total
In the original Lollipop Chainsaw, these costumes can be unlocked by purchasing them through an in-game store, which can then be worn by selecting Juliet's closet in the main menu. Many of these costumes are meant to bring out Juliet's sex appeal, with variations on other American Cheerleader costumes or costumes based on anime like High School of the Dead or Manyu Scroll.
There were also a number of DLC costumes for Lollipop Chainsaw, with one even dressing up Juliet as Ash Williams from the Evil Dead franchise, with there being 19 costumes in the original, total. Based on this, it's likely at least 12 new costumes have been made for RePOP, though it's unknown if all the costumes will return, be cut, or possibly be censored if certain ones end up being too risqué. It's too early to tell, however, so fans will need to wait until more information from Dragami Games is given about these costumes. For now, many fans are excited to see which costumes will be in the remaster.
